TEN DOLLARS In
the mean time, I had to find a way to handle the unexpected expense. The co-pay was only ten dollars, but at the
time I didn’t have ten dollars. I
worried about that ten-dollar co-pay for a day and a half.
I didn’t have the cash. I
couldn’t write a check that I knew wouldn’t
be good. I didn’t want to borrow the
money from my parents; they had already done so much for me. I didn’t know what to do, except pray. I prayed that night and stopped my
worrying. I still didn’t know how I was
going to pay the dentist in the morning, but I knew it would be taken
care of
one way or another. As
I put my children to bed the night before the appointment, I prayed for
them,
for our family, for our finances, for the ten dollars.
As I sat down to relax before going to bed
myself I opened one of my books, a prayer book for parents, to the
place I had
been reading. I read for a few minutes
before something fell from the pages of the book. There
in my lap was a crisp ten-dollar
bill. My prayer had been answered. I just needed to trust God with everything –
even for ten dollars. |
