Monday, June 28:
Bobbie and I got up early and took a final walk in the woods around Haga. We stayed at Haga two nights and enjoyed this time of being immersed in family history.
After breakfast we left on a two-hour drive to visit Ralf and Inger Blomqvist at their seaside summerhouse north of Uddevalla on Sweden’s West Coast. We arrived for a wonderful meal at 1 p.m. Ralf’s sister Anita Sanne was also there. Ralf is Margareta’s cousin. Ralf and Anita are second cousins once removed to me, the same as Margareta is. Ralf is a retired physician.

It
was a beautiful house on a cliff overlooking the water. Ralf had a dock
along with a sailboat and fishing boat down below, and had a guesthouse
on the shore.

Ralf entertained us very
well by telling jokes and playing the accordion as we sang along out in
the yard overlooking the sea. He does a great imitation of Louie
Armstrong. He played music from operas and American musicals, and we
had to guess the musical or opera it was from, along with the composer
for extra credit.
