 Note Taking

The Golden Rule:

ONLY ONE PIECE OF INFO PER NOTE CARD!

  1. Start by making a source card for each of the sources you are using.

    ____________________________________________________________________

    1

Janeczko, Paul G. How to Write Poetry.

    New York: Scholastic Ind., 1999

    ____________________________________________________________________

The numeral "one" above, indicates that this is the first source. All notes taken from this source will have a number one in the corner.

  2. Then, begin taking notes. Write the source # on the card, write the question you're trying to answer, and write the answer to the question (the info you found in your source).

1

Q: What types of dogs are used in dogsledding?

A: Huskies, Samoyeds,Malamutes

____________________________________________________________________

The numeral "one" indicates that this information came from your first source. You can easily go back to that source by looking at source card #1 and looking at which source it refers to.

  1. When you have taken all of the notes you need from your first source, make out a source card for your second source and then take notes. Remember to put a number 2 on all of these card. Repeat for as many sources as you have.
