Spring Drill
Camp Cullum near Mulberry, IN.

Camp Cullom, Indiana
17 April 1943
Marines present:
Sgt. Rock, T.
Cpl. Johnson, J.
Pfc's: Arends, A.; Bagley, T.; Beaver, R.; Cross, S.;
Grimm, M.; McKee, P.; Raper, R.; Rock, A.
Promotion: Hodge, T. to Cpl.(acknowledged by all hands.)
Barracks Report:
The barracks was squared away with the addition of shelving to the bulkheads.
The racks were dressed fore to aft and port to starboard as were the locker
boxes. The squad bay was ready for inspection after a clean sweepdown
and all Marines passed with flying colors. Saturday's inspection included
junk on the bunk while Sunday's was locker boxes.
Drill Report:
The drill emphasis was on the manual of arms, facings, and marching. It
is important that all Marines from the detachment keep sharp in their
drill even though most are combat veterans tranferred into this new lash-up.
We will be part of the main body of experienced sea soldiers brought into
the 23rd Marines.
Squad Tactics Report:
The detachment participated in squad tactics. Noise discipline and the
use of hand signals was stressed. It is important that every Marine know
his job and the other men's.
Respectfully submitted,
Rock, T. Sgt
