Working with youth tellers is exciting and rewarding.  Storytelling clubs work for the youth, the school, and the community.  Young people are encouraged to research and read many forms of each story.  They become excited to see what they themselves are capable of doing.  This promotes self esteem and often leads to improvement in classroom work.  Oral literacy enables and prepares young people, by improving verbal skills, to be a more productive part of family, school, peer group, and community.
