Warning Description: Flood Warning

Warning Date: 10:16 am PST on November 19, 2009

WarningSum:


Warning Message:The Flood Warning continues for
  the Satsop river near Satsop
* from 4 PM Thursday until Friday afternoon.
* At  9:15 am Thursday the stage was 32.9 feet. 
* Flood stage is 34.0 feet. 
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...the river will rise above flood stage around 4 PM 
  Thursday and crest near 35.0 feet around 10 PM Thursday. The river 
  will fall below flood stage Friday morning.
* Impact...at 34.0 feet...the Satsop river will flood low pasture 
  lands and some roads along the river.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Do not drive cars...vans...or trucks through flooded areas...this is 
the cause of most flood related deaths in Washington. Be alert for 
rapid changes and monitor developments by listening to NOAA Weather 
Radio or other local media.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Skokomish River near Potlatch
* until Sunday morning. 
* At 10:00 am Thursday the stage was 16.8 feet. 
* Flood stage is 16.5 feet. 
* Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...the river will continue to rise above major flood stage
  this afternoon and remain above major flood stage through Friday.
  The river will fall below flood stage Sunday.
* Impact...at 16.8 feet...the Skokomish River will cause major 
  flooding...with deep and quick flood waters inundating some 
  residential areas...many roads...and much of The Farm land in the 
  Skokomish Valley.   Flooding will occur all along the river 
  including headwaters...tributaries...and other streams within and 
  near the Skokomish River basin.

  the bogachiel river near La Push
* until Friday morning. 
* At  9:00 am Thursday the stage was 34.5 feet. 
* Flood stage is 37.0 feet. 
* Forecast...the river will rise above flood stage around 6 PM 
  Thursday and crest near 37.5 feet around 10 PM Thursday. The river 
  will fall below flood stage early Friday morning.

WarningSum:...Flood Watch Remains In Effect From 10 Am Pst This Morning
Through Saturday Morning...

Warning Message:The Flood Watch continues for
* portions of western Washington...including the following 
 counties... Grays Harbor...Clallam...Jefferson...Lewis...
 Thurston.
* From 10 am PST this morning through Saturday morning
* the Chehalis and Newaukum rivers could be driven above flood
  stage tonight or Friday as a result of heavy rainfall continuing
  through Friday morning. The Chehalis near Doty and the Newaukum
  could flood late tonight or Friday morning...with The Reach of
  the Chehalis in the Twin Cities possibly flooding Friday night.
  Any flooding...if it does occur...will be minor.
* The lower reaches of the Chehalis river in Thurston and Grays
  Harbor counties...already running within a foot or two of flood
  stage...could rise gradually above flood stage Friday or Friday
  night. Any flooding on the lower reaches of the Chehalis...if it
  does occur...will also be minor.
* Heavy rain today through Friday morning could also drive rivers
  on the olympic peninsula above flood stage. In particular the
  Elwha and Dungeness rivers could flood tonight or Friday...as
  well as some of the many smaller rivers that flow off the
  Olympic Mountains. Flood warnings are already in effect for the
  Satsop...bogachiel...and skokomish rivers.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flooding but
flooding is not imminent or occurring. Monitor the latest
forecasts from the National Weather Service and be ready to act
quickly if flooding is observed or a warning is issued.
