Before you sign up for new programs there are a few things you may wish to check. Not all of the programs out there are legitimate, some are obviously scams, some not so obvious.

Some things you may wish to check:

• Does the program have its own domain?
• Where is the domain registered?
• Is the domain registered to a company or individual?
• Is the domain's whois information forged?
• Is the web-site professional?
• Is the web-site littered with spelling mistakes?
• Does the web-site have bad links?
• Does the submit button do anything?
• Does the program promote unrealistic payment?
• Does the company provide contact information?
• Is a contact telephone number provided and if so is it legitimate? Try FoneFinder.
• Is secure SSL technology used with credit card numbers?
  

Why?

• The owner of the program could be collecting logon ids, passwords, e-mail addresses or credit card numbers.
• Is it a program that'll never get off the ground?

Maybe It's Ok...

• Perhaps it's a new program in pre-launch
• Perhaps the 'forged' information is simply a typo
• It may be using a temporary domain
• It may be using a temporary layout
