Is
This A Pyamid Scheme?
No! This is probably the biggest misconception about
paid to surf companies and we wish people would realize
that myths like this that can ruin the reputation
of the 'adstream' concept. If truth be known, the
concept is very similar to a pyramid scheme but it
doesn't cost you anything but time, effort and patience
on your behalf. The bottomline is that it costs you
absolutely nothing i.e. it is FREE. Secondly, YOU
DO NOT NEED TO SELL ANYTHING! The only thing you need
to sell is the idea, which as mentioned previously
requires time, effort and patience.
DO
THEY REALLY PAY?
YES! Some programs have already sent out payments
in the forms of checks, PayPal (direct deposit) or
gift certificates (for online and offline use) to
members for many months now. Check out the MONEY RECEIVED
page for the proof. If you join programs which have
not paid out yet the question becomes a little harder
to answer. We assure you that any company that we
promote is legitimate and if time proves this to be
otherwise then you will find out here first in the
LATEST NEWS. You can subscribe here.
WHY
DO THEY DO IT?
One word. MONEY!! Simply, the more people there are
to view advertisements, the more money the adstream
company can charge the advertisers and the more money
they make. It works in the same principle as other
forms of media e.g. newspapers, radio, magazines,
TV etc.
CAN
I JOIN MORE THAN ONE PROGRAM?
YES! You can join as many programs as you wish but
we have already assembled what we believe to be the
best companies that are out there on the internet
and the details on each of them, so we feel there
is no need for you to investigate any other companies.
We do that job for you.
WHAT
IS A VIEWBAR?
A view bar is the actual software you download to
view the ads on your screen. Click here
for an example of the "GoThruUs Webtools Viewbar".
All bars look something like this. Some are big, some
are smaller, you can move some, some you can't, but
they all show ads.
Can I use different viewbars at the same time?
Absolutely, but there are a few things to consider
when running multiple viewbars at the same time:
1) They take up space on your monitor screen. The
larger the monitor, the better. We think 17 inches
or larger is ideal although 15 inches is the bare
minimum. Also a higher resolution shrinks the viewbars
in relation to the screen size, therefore we think
800x600 is ideal. You can always change the text size
in the "View" menu of your browser if you
think the font size is too small.
2) They use up your system resources just like when
you have several programs open at the same time such
as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and WinAmp.
So ensure you have sufficient memory to cope with
the demands of running multiple viewbars. Since memory
is cheap, 64Mb RAM is sufficent.
3) The more viewbars you have running, the more ads
or "images" being transferred to your computer.
So you need a sufficient modem connection to cope
with this "incoming data". Basically anything
lower than a 56K connection is not sufficient. Click
here
for an example of what your screen may look like with
multiple viewbars running.
DO THESE
VIEWBARS REALLY WORK?
We've spent a lot of time trying all of them and
waiting for them to be launched. Some viewbars work
great while others leave alot to be desired. Some
of these companies pay well while others pay poorly.
Through trial and error and firsthand knowledge,
we feel we have provided the best adstream programs
there are out there which are suitable for internet
users. We are not forcing you to sign up for these
programs and if you do, we are not forcing you to
stay with them if you want to sign for a company
that we haven't promoted.
CAN I USE MORE
THAN ONE COMPUTER WITH A PROGRAM?
All programs are different....ALWAYS
make sure you read their FAQ sheet to determine
if this is allowed! If allowed and you use one computer
at home and another one at work or school, download
the software for the viewbar(s) on the computer
you are currently using, and login with your member
ID and password!
WHAT ABOUT INTERNATIONAL
USERS?
Availability for each program differs. We have noted
the availability for each program.
ETHICAL ISSUES
This is a big issue - CHEATING - OR IN OTHER WORDS
...."SPAMMING". That is an absolute NO-NO
in our book. There are many people out there who are
cheating the system and as cheating detection improves,
sooner or later these fraudulent delinquents will
get caught and get their just desserts. People cheat
the system by using programs that simulate mouse movements
and loading different web pages...in other words 'fake
surfing'. This will be our first and final warning
and that is - DON'T DO IT! The consequences of doing
such things involve losing your account indefinitely,
and losing all the money you and your referrals earned.
Legal action may also be taken against you as this
is illegal in the US and other countries. It also
endangers innocent members who may have signed up
under these 'frauds' or have referred these 'frauds'.
Participating in these 'illegal actions' gives paid
to surf companies a bad name, hurts their image and
destroys their credibility which they worked so hard
to build up in the first place. These companies have
been kind enough to provide a service in which we
can get paid for something we already do, so why would
you want to cheat them?
WHAT DO THESE WORDS MEAN?
Referral - When someone signs up to
a program and uses your ID as their referral, it means
that person has credited you for introducing them
to that program. You get your "referral rates"
when he/she surfs i.e. you earn a small proportion
of what your referral earns for their surfing time.
Look at our COMPARISON CHARTS for more information
about referral rates.
Sponsor - The person under whom you
have signed up for a program.
Downline - The referrals who have signed
up using your ID (or any referral behind you to the
last level the program pays for referrals).
PayRate
- The amount of money you get paid, usually given
in $US/hr.
CPM - The most common measure in advertising
is cost per mille (thousand), or CPM. This is the
cost per thousand impressions. Impressions are viewings.
So merely seeing a banner ad when it appears on your
screen is an impression.
Affiliate
- When you sign up for a program, you become an affiliate
to that program. It's actually the same as a being
a member. You can also become an affiliate of online
retailers and earn various commissions. An excellent
source for this is Commission Junction!
OVERVIEW
If
you are still in doubt, here is a summary of a
few things we look for in an acceptable paid to
surf company:
- A clear statement
of privacy. This is to make sure your personal
details are protected.
- A strong userbase
suggests strong support and closer scrutiny and
therefore more likely to be user-friendly. An
example WAS AllAdvantage which was the first adstream
company to be established and therefore has the
largest membership in the world. Although through
poor management they have been reporting quarterly
losses resulting in them needing to drastically
reduce their rates and revise their payout scheme.
- A good payout
policy preferably for personal surfing but also
for referral levels. All companies have different
payrates and offer differing levels of referrals
for you to build your downline at different rates.
- Stable software.
It is important that the ViewBar software is computer-friendly.
We don't want our computer to crash every 5 minutes
or to affect the other programs we use or our
surfing activity.
- The Viewbar must
be compatible with other programs i.e. if you
want to use more than 1 ViewBar at a time, they
all must be able to operate free of conflict,
while running simultaneously.
