A Welcome from the Director
Welcome to the web site of the Jesuit Spirituality Center.
I became the Director of the Center in August of this year, and I am very much aware of the many women and men who previously have served as retreat directors at the Center. I am grateful for their service, and humbled that I have been asked to continue their remarkable ministry centered on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius Loyola. The Center traces its beginnings to 1972, the same year as my ordination to the priesthood. Over these 35 years the Center has continued to offer individually-directed retreats and other programs for spiritual growth to thousands of people.
The Center is situated in a lush and beautiful setting, amid ancient oak alleys, pecan orchards, and stands of pine trees. Azalea and camellia bushes line the walkways. Amidst all this natural beauty one encounters a profound sense of the presence of God, and this is the result of so many people who have come during these years to seek a deeper, spiritual meaning and purpose. All leave with the realization that they indeed found something of what they came for.
I invite you on behalf of the staff of the Center to come, see, and experience for yourself the life-altering graces of a silent retreat or the deeply moving insights of our numerous other programs. They will transform your heart and liven your mind; they will provide rest for your body and energy for your soul. Is this too much to ask or hope for?
