Arts and Humanities
Possible Elective Choices


Arts and Humanities include the areas of visual arts, performing arts, and communication arts.  Visual artists produce original works of art like paintings, illustrations, jewelry creations, pottery, sculptures, and photographs.  Performing artists are involved in music, dance, and acting.  The communication arts encompass radio, television, and print journalism, teaching, library science, and foreign language interpretation.

The Business/ Marketing Cluster is a section of courses designed to provide the students with sufficient academic knowledge and skills to afford a smooth transition from school to career or from school to an advanced degree.

A cluster provides preparation for opportunities available in the local and national marketplace.  Such opportunities ma be in office and business technology, administration and service, small business management, entrepreneurship, retailing, wholesaling, and service industries.

Students interested in careers in this cluster should develop strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The area of vocational education develops students' skills in a variety of programs.  Whether a student is planning to go directly into the working world after high school, or to a technical institute or college, these courses can help develop marketable skills, positive work/safety habits, and a knowledge of human relations.  The 21st century will see great changes in industrial technology and computer science education, mostly due to the technological breakthroughs in electronics and widespread use of computers.  Students wishing to pursue careers in these areas will need to prepare to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
