A jaguar is a mammal. They are golden or brownish-yellow and have many spots. They are four-legged animals. Their bodies are 120-300 pounds and are 70-100 inches long with the tail. The tail by its self is 75 centimeters.

The jaguar lives in a rain forest habitat. The jaguar usually lives close to water. The forest that the jaguar lives in is dense forests of South and Central America, and open grass lands.

The prey, or food, of the jaguar can be found in it's habitat. The jaguar feeds on just about any thing that moves form tiny beetles to young giraffes, frogs, lizards, birds, monkeys, rats, pigs and baboons. When jaguars want to eat the animals it will slowly sneak behind the bush until it is right across from the animal and then runs towards it and catches it. Then takes it in a tree and eats. Jaguars hunt mainly on the ground at night.

A jaguar has to be careful of its predators, or its enemies. The enemies of the jaguar are the Jackal, hyena and the eagle. The jaguar lives in the open grasslands where it is all weedy and bushy so when it sees a predator it will go and hide in the long weeds, or behind a bush so the predator can not see him.

I learned many interesting facts about my animal. Jaguars can drag animals bigger then them up a tree. The jaguar has two to four cubs. Jaguars hide their babies in rocks. Jaguars are not picky eaters.
