The name of this tree is a white Spruce. The bark is loose, scaly, and
grayish brown. The cones are light brown to purplish and hang from the
upper branches. The leaves are needle-like, four-sided, sharp and stiff.
The things people use it for snowshoe frames and bows. It lives with Lodge
pole pine, Subal pine fir, Aspen birch, and willow in the northern forests.
It is only found north of Dawson Creek. Animals that live there are lynx,
snowshoe hares, wolves, and moose. When it is full grown it is usually
40 meters tall. |
