WESTERN RED CEDAR

Bark:The bark is gray and stringy, tearing off in long strips on a mature tree.

Fruit: The seed cones are egg-shaped, 1 centimeter long, with lots of pairs of scales. Pollen cones are small and reddish.

Uses: The Native Americans used the Western Red Cedar for dugout canoes, house planks, bentwood boxes, clothing, and many tools like arrow shafts, masks, paddles, stuff like that. The modern day uses for the Western Red Cedar are house siding, interior paneling, outdoor furniture, decking and fencing.

Full Grown Height: The Western Red Cedar grows up to 60 meters tall.
