Elodea is a water plant that grows in many lakes. They have a ring of three as in leaves around the stem. They're rooted and have dark green leaves drooping most of the time. They might have white flowers between July and September. The leaves have very small teeth that you can't see by the unaided eye. The leaves can get to be 3/4" long and 1/4" wide. They are known as waterweeds. The real name is Elodea Canadensis; they live in fresh water and they are native to Montana. |
Lily pads are leaves that glide along the shallow shorelines, like ponds,
marshes, and lakes. They are six to fifteen inches wide. They have broad
leaves that are a medium green when they are young, they get darker when
they mature, and they get yellow when they are dying. Lily pads are common
in lakes, rivers, and swamps. Lily pads have pink worms that eat their
stems, and it kills the lily pads. Northern pikes live under the lily pads.
