Sam was walking home from school when two bullies grabbed him. They said they would beat him up if he didn’t do a dare. Sam said he would do it as long as they didn’t beat him up. They told him to meet them at the Mc Mud house on Sunday at midnight. "But that house is haunted!" Sam yelled.
"Meet us there or else," the bullies said.
On Sunday, Sam snuck out of his house so he could meet the bullies at the Mc Mud house. He got there right at midnight. The bullies were already there. Sam asked, "What is the dare? Tell me."
The bullies spoke at the same time, "You have to stay in the Mc Mud house for one hour."
Sam was petrified, but he did it anyway. He started walking up the steps to the door. He looked back. The bullies were smiling at him. He opened the door and stepped in.
It was so dark that Sam couldn’t tell the difference when he closed his eyes,"How did I ever get in a mess like this?" he thought. He walked farther into the house. He saw a dim light. It was in the living room. Sam slowly walked in. An old man was sitting there reading a book.
Sam said, "Excuse me sir, are you Mc Mud?"
"Why yes, I am," he said. Sam and Mc Mud talked and talked. Now Sam knew the house wasn’t really haunted. Sam ate some pie and drank some coffee.
Sam looked at his watch and noticed it was 1:00 A.M. He said good bye, then he left.
When he got outside, the bullies were waiting for him. Sam didn’t tell them about Mc Mud. Instead he told them that a ghost was in the house. The ghost had told Sam that he was too nice to eat. The ghost also said that he would eat the bullies outside! The bullies were scared to death!!! Zoom!!! They ran away like the wind.
The bullies were always nice to Sam from that point on. He convinced them that he would sic his ghost friend on them if they gave him a hard time.
