Peeling
Peeling is the easiest part of making a log cabin. You must first make sure that the bevel side is down if that is what the drawknife is made for. Your arms should be loose but straight. If you are peeling left handed, then our right foot should be forward. If you are peeling right handed, then your left foot should be forward. Just lean back and pull the bark off. The blade of the drawknife should be at a pretty good angle. On the knots, just basically bash your way through. When you are done, thre should be no knots or holes in the log.
Scribing
The first thing you would want to do would be to put the larger log on smaller log. Then situate the log butt to top. Make sure the logs are centered lengthwise. Next, center with measurment then align with level. the scribe width should be 1/2 of the log's widest side. Then you try to keep the bubble in the center. Finally, check all lines and make sure that there isn't a "hole" in the linge somewhere.
Chiseling
When you're chiseling always chisel down the log, and not up one side.Try to cut the line in half with the chisel. You only have to go in about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Chisel with the bevel side pointing up and in to the log.
