Readers' Comments - Arika Gets It

"Arika Gets It is a tight coming-of-age journey by a girl determined to control her own destiny while the world appears equally determined to thwart her ambition. The narrative takes us right into the heart of a teenage girl, confronted by both the political realities surrounding her as well as the realities of her awakening emotions. A great story of unforgettable yet very familiar
characters."

I read Arika Gets It and enjoyed it. I thought you captured the attitude of a rebellious teenager quite accurately. I really liked all the references to folks I know in Columbia.

WOW! 'Arika gets it' is wonderful! I have only read through chapter 2 and it’s riveting. A page turner, Thank you for my autographed copy...I'm sure I will pass it on. :oD

As usual, I couldn't put down your newest book once I began reading it on Monday. I finished it yesterday. I found the first part very powerful--when Arika was learning about her father in prison, and trying to figure out what it means to be a Black person in a white society.
