United Presbyterian/Congregational Church of Ashland, Wisconsin
represents the merger in 1943 of the First Presbyterian
Church (founded 1880) and the First Congregational Church
(founded 1880). While functioning as one congregation in
worship and church life, the church maintains affiliation
with and support for the Presbyterian Church, USA and the
United Church of Christ. The congregation is blessed with
a beautiful 1897 vintage facilty. The sanctuary seats about
425 persons and is constructed in oak with magnificent stained
glass windows. The exterior is historic brick and brownstone
combination. An eduational building was added in 1957. The
church is handicap accessible (elevator), enjoys a state
of art amplification system and individualized assistance
for the hearing impared. The congregation has enjoyed steady
growth in attendance and membership. Current membership
is 530 persons.
