March, 1988
This morning I asked for my wings to unfurl fully
and freely so that I may soar with the wind. This afternoon I
went out to walk along the beach in the bright glistening sunlight
. The melting snow reflected rainbows into my eyes . . . wet rocks
showed off their finest glimmering colors . . . God I love this
island! I walk in quiet bliss, in awe of the path that unfolds
in front of me, each step a new adventure in itself.
Sun has gone before me, opening every door according
to my heart's desires. I see new bright colors, never seen before.
Yes, even color is evolving. I exchange a warm greeting with a
man who is chopping wood on the beach, "Getting ready for
more snow?" "You bet! Gotta stay warm!"
The water is calm, gently lapping up to the lower
lip of the tide. I looked across the cove to see a ray of dancing
sunlight sparkling against the waving, ribbon-like patterns created
by the gentle winds and currents. I came to the place where a
wide stream usually turns me back towards home. Today I heard
the voice of my beloved Pinky "Just see yourself on the other
side and jump!" I backed up a few feet to make room for a
running start. I flew over the expanse and my foot landed cleanly
on the other side. The birds feeding in the cove cheered my forward
progress and there were many as the mouth of the stream delivers
fresh goodies from along its miles of meandering.
A few more steps and a large shadow crossed my path.
I looked up just as an exquisite eagle soared masterfully overhead
and perched in a tall, lacy cedar tree. I gasped in wonderment,
tears of gratitude and love-of-life welled up in my eyes and trickled
down my sun-drenched cheeks. This magnificent creature swooped
down in front of me to the edge of the water. All the other birds
responded quite excitedly. I gasped again as another equally stunning,
smaller eagle joined with the first in a joyous, spiraling dance
on the wind.
I could barely breath . . . to be so honored to be
able to witness this display of beauty, grace, and power. The
sun glistened in multi-color reflections off their wings. They
played with the currents of the wind, creating a masterful, yet
effortless spectacle. They swooped down directly over me a few
times then disappeared into the trees. In my soul, I knew that
dance was in my honor in acknowledgment of accepting my own wings.
I sobbed very deeply. How exquisitely beautiful is my life when
I surrender and follow my heart in every moment, allowing my divine
plan to unfold. I trust that my heart's desires are what I truly
want and I trust that my desires are divine. I desire to fulfill
my divine blueprint as masterfully as the eagles.
On my return, I flew over the stream with ease. A
big red dog followed close on my heels. We recognized each other's
playful spirits immediately and became instantly involved with
frolicking games. Another big red dog spied us playing and ran
to join us. 'Fetch' was the game of choice using rocks and sticks
gathered up from the beach. I was quite impressed that the short-haired
dog always returned with the exact rock I had thrown, even though
it looked very similar to most of the other rocks on the beach.
"You are very good at that!" I praised. "It's nothing"
he seemed to say as he swaggered in front of me. He loved what
he was doing and he did it with great skill--mastery, even at
that level, confirming once again that indeed there is no separation!
Upon reaching the bulkhead of my destination, I turned
to climb up the piling. Just as I did, a blast of sunlight soaked
into my cheek. I turned the rest of the way around to be face
to face with glowing Sun. I breathed in deeply and opened every
cell in my body for penetration by this healing radiance, attuning
all of me to Sun's vibrancy. I am as alive in this moment as it
is possible to be! I choose to live in the Love of all Life. I
choose to see Beauty in All. Thank you God!!
