This is Salmon, Idaho. Population approximately 3,400. Elevation 4,040 ft. above sea level. A river runs through it. I have lived here since 1966.

In the background is the western continental divide. Lewis and Clark found the first waters flowing to the Pacific Ocean when they came over this mountain range. The Salmon River flows into the Snake River, which flows into the Columbia River. On the other side is Montana, and those waters flow into the Missouri River, which flows into the Mississippi River and finally, into the Gulf of Mexico.
Here is a recent photo of Main Street, looking West.

Below is a picture of the town I took from a hot air balloon in 1995. Since that time, the sawmill in the center of the picture has been replaced with a Burger King and a big Saveway grocery store. Progress, I guess.
This is where Bev and I live (a work in progress). Those are the Rocky Mts. behind us.
This is the view from our living room window.

This is my wife, Bev. She loves the river, seeing wildlife, fishing, flowers and gardening, cooking, arts and crafts and traveling...with me. She is a talented water color artist. Click here to see a few of her paintings.
This is Simone BeBe, our Ragdoll cat.

The Salmon River flows through the Frank Church River-Of-No-Return Wilderness. There is 80 miles of unroaded canyon accessable only by boat. I love it there...I feel at home. It is a special place and there are few places like it anymore. Most of the stories on this web site take place in this river canyon.
The OUZEL takes me into that world.
