Our Net Buddies 2001-2003 Our class has some good friends in Lumberton, North Carolina! Check out Mrs. Carter's class website... http://www.geocities.com/speshulkids/ What has our class sent our North Carolina Net Buddies? In October we went on a leaf hunt. We found a bunch of beautiful fall leaves. After pressing them, we wrote a book about Fall in Wisconsin. We also made a packet including individual student pictures. Miss Boggs' class sent us a huge, cool puzzle showing everyone in her class!
For Halloween all the students made puzzles for their friends in North Carolina.
At Christmas the two classes exchanged ornaments. We sent our friends Christmas trees made out of popsicle sticks and they sent us fun foam Christmas trees!
In January our classes wrote a cooperative story about a snowman. http://www.geocities.com/speshulkids/Stories.html In February and March we cooperated with Miss Boggs' class to complete the Groundhog Project and the Jelly Bean Project.
Earth Day brought special activities as well for our classes. We wrote a book, Springtime in Wisconsin for our North Carolina friends. We also sent two small red pine trees to Miss Boggs' class to plant. Just a friendly way to say, "Happy Birthday, Earth Day!"
2/2003 On the 100th day of school our classes exchanged 100 items. The students in our classes gathered items from their desks, various learning centers and even the teacher's desk! It sure didn't look like 100 items but we recounted and it sure enough it was.
4/2003 The students in our class created spring puzzles to send to our buddies in NC.
It is our goal to have our Flat Stanley visit Tanglewood Elementary School in North Carolina before the end of the school year. Hopefully, the Tanglewood Flat Stanley will visit his friends in Wisconsin! Watch for more details!
