Drawing and naming polygons is a great way to begin. When your kids are
comfortable with commanding the turtle, give them a puzzle to solve. With
young kids, I usually begin by demonstrating how to draw a square. I then
challenge them to draw a rectangle that is not a square. (Great opportunity to
talk about how to classify polygons! I just love the arguments over whether a
square is a rectangle or not.) No matter what, I try to always keep challenging
them to discover more.

Logo Sources

Free (or almost free):

UCBLogo: UCBLogo (University of California, Berkeley Logo) is available
in versions for MSDOS, Macintosh, and UNIX computers. It has been placed
in the public domain by its authors and may be obtained on the internet
(for free!) on the world wide web from:

http://http.cs.berkeley.edu/~bh/

If you don't have access to the internet you may obtain the program for a
small postage and handling fee from the the Logo Foundation (see below
for address).

MSWLogo: This is without doubt the best free version of logo available! It
is certainly on par with many of the commercial versions. Mr. Mills has
taken UCBLogo and turned it into a killer Windows version. It can be found
at:
