A.M. Activity - Keynote Speaker
Objective: To introduce the week's planned activities; to introduce the participants in the course; to review week's agenda and objectives; to determine teacher needs from this week's workshop; to preview the course web site and its resources.
P.M. Objective: To discuss the development of the Internet and the WWW; to discover and examine educational uses and resources made available to teachers by the WWW; to learn how search engines work and advanced search engine strategies including Boolean commands. (More about Boole and Boolean commands)
Activity: Search Engine analysis using Boolean Commands; individuals' searches lead to sharing of web sites. Boolean Commands scavenger hunt. Webquests,Homework: Read the article "Web Style Guide" in your binder and generate a list of your top ten educational website qualities. Our Qualities for Educational Websites
Day 2
A.M. Objective: To review and discuss Internet and HTML lexicon; to generate criteria for quality educational web sites; to peruse and evaluate existing educational web sites based on the criteria developed by the class.
Activity: Use Yale - Chicago Style Guide information to generate criteria for quality educational web sites; visit web sites selected and evaluate them based on our criteria; share evaluations and discuss the attributes both negative and positive of the sites visited.
P.M. Objective: To develop a goal and flow chart/idea map for educational web site; to begin using Netscape Communicator to create web sites.
Activity: Visit web sites similar to that which the participants wish to create to evaluate and emulate desired attributes; practice using Netscape Composer by creating sample exploratory web site.School Related Backgrounds , Animated gifs, Discovery School Clip Art

Activities: Industry tours. Mini Workshop/Open HouseDay 4
A.M. Objective: To review web site construction from Day 2; to preview links to web page design resources; to begin writing web pages.
Activity: Use Netscape Communicator Composer software to start developing individual web pages with links and graphics.
P.M. Objective: To write web pages and construct web sites.

P.M. Objective: To refine web site design and share projects with the course participants; to discuss uploading web sites to servers; to discuss announcing web pages to search engines.
Activity: Share web sites using projector; visit Yahoo and other search engines to examine procedures for announcing web pages once they are uploaded to servers; to examine web server space available to teachers for free.
