Process:

1.  Name this hurricane.  (Naming Hurricane Information from FEMA)

2.  Track your hurricane on a map.
     a.  Create the hurricane symbol on your given map to identify where the storm  originated in the Atlantic Ocean.
     b.  Find the longitude and latitude of the hurricane symbol on your map.
     c.  Draw a dotted line to track the hurricane's direction towards the United States' coastline.
     d.  Highlight the range of area on the eastern coastline that needs to evacuate (one color) and the area   that is under warning (another color) before the storm devours the land.
     e.  Color the map.
     f.  Make sure your map has T.O.A.D.S

3.  Write, practice, and film a newscast to warn the public.
     a.  Explain to U.S. citizens how the hurricane formed.
     b.  Evacuate areas that will be hit.
     c.  Tell people how and when to evacuate (including pets).
     d.  Warn areas that may be hit by the storm.
     e.  Tell people how to prepare their homes for the storm.
     f.   List the supplies people need to include in hurricane disaster kits.
     g.  Include facts about this hurricane such as wind speed, wind direction, storm surge, rainfall projections, and possible tornadoes.
     h. Use your map as a visual aid to show the path and direction of the hurricane.
     i.  Use  Inspiration software to plan your newscast (save the Inspiration file and show it to Mr. H before you begin filming.)
     j.  As a team practice your weather alert newscast (Everyone must equally contribute).

4.  Present your newscast in a creative way.
     a.  Film your newscast in Mr. Hilker's classroom or the quiet room in the LMC.  See Mr. H. to schedule the space.
     b.  Speak clearly
     c.  Use eye contact (Do not read your notes word for word)
     d.  Dress appropriately.

5.  Edit your video using iMovie software in the MMLab
     a.  Include copyright-free music, video and still images, as well as titles and video effects to enhance your newscast.
     b.  Save your iMovie file frequently as you make changes.
     c.  Save (share) your completed video to Quicktime.
