Ancient Egypt Unit
Enrichment Project

Onalaska Middle School 8 East

Purpose:  The purpose of this project is for you to research an aspect of Ancient Egyptian history and teach your findings to the rest of the class using visual aids that could include posters, displays, live performances, video, or  presentation software like eZedia QTI or MS Powerpoint.

Procedure:  I will assign you to a group and a topic.  Your group will conduct research using resources from the LMC, public library, internet, magazines, and other media to enrich your classmates' understanding of the topic beyond that presented in our textbook.  In addition to the presentation, your group will create notes/study guide for your peers which will accompany your presentation as well as  5 MULTIPLE CHOICE quiz questions covering the material presented.

Evaluation:  Your grade for this project will be determined by yourself, your team, your classmates, and me.  Your grade will also include your test score based on the quiz questions developed by your peers' groups. GROUP EVALUATION RUBRIC , PRESENTATION RUBRIC

  • Tasks: As a group, you will need to complete the following (given you have only a few days to complete the project, delegate the work according to the skills and talents of your team members):
  • Research information about your given topic. Begin where our textbook leaves off; assume the class understands what was presented by the textbook and dig deeper to find information which is interesting to you and will teach your classmates something new.
  • Compile that information and create a 3-5 minute presentation which teaches the class what you have learned.
  • Create a  presentation visual aid to guide and enhance your teaching/presentation. Include moving or still images, text, and a bibliography with your visual aid.
  • Make a study guide/class notes worksheet for the class to fill in as you teach (print enough copies for each member of the class).
  • Make a list of 5 multiple choice questions which will evaluate your classmates' understanding of what you have taught them (print a copy of the questions for Mr. Hilker.)
  • Remember to save your work on the computer frequently!
  • Have fun but use your time wisely.
