Onalaska Middle School Football

Aquinas @ OMS ; October 11, 2007

Recap: The Tigers improved their record to 6 - 0 with a 34 - 8 win over a gritty Aquinas team. After a scoreless first quarter, OMS scored 34 unanswered points in the 2nd and third quarters to pull away with the victory. Three rushing touchdowns and two passing TDs accounted for the scoring as the Tigers executed nearly their entire playbook without a hitch. The guys even scored on a play Coach drew up before the game (after seeing Navy run it all over Pitt on TV the night before). These guys are really learning how football is played, and our offensive precision continues to improve with each game. Defensively, the Tigers continue to make moving the ball difficult for opposing offenses. Swarming tackles, deep surges by the D-line, and blanket coverage by the secondary have become habit. The special teams also continue to improve. Against Aquinas, we converted two extra points and covered kicks with the same intensity we displayed on defense. Our quest for an undefeated season will be put to the test next Tuesday vs. Sparta.
