WILLIS, HARTSON
I am searching for parents of my Gggrandfather William Henry Willis (born 1818 believed in Ohio), Died in
Wadams Grove, IL on 9-27-1848). He married Olive Adiline Hartson (born 1818 in Ohio) on 8-30-1841 in
Freeport,IL, daughter of Harvey Hartson and Eunice Parker. Three children are noted, Andrew, Henry B., &
Harvey Jefferson. Location of grave, any brothers and sisters unknown.

DALY
Wanted to know if anyone had some history on how immigrants travelled to OH from NY.
Ggrf Lawrence DALY arrived ca. 1830 through NY (maybe).
He's shown on 1840 OH census, for Lorain County, but I'm unable to find him in this country before that time.  Any suggestions on how he might have migrated to Lorain County, and what else I might investigate? Thank You

ALLEN, PITTINGER, LITTLE
I am hoping someone can uncover information regarding Orlando ALLEN, Jr. and his wife, Mary (Pittinger)
ALLEN, and Orlando's sister Harriet ("Hattie") and Hattie's husband William Morris LITTLE, all of whom
lived in Lorain from at least 1899-1914.
Orlando and his sister Hattie were natives of Wallaceburg, Ontario.  Their mother, also named Mary Allen, died
at Lorain in 1914.
Hattie's husband, William Morris Little, was a real estate agent, and I believe they lived in Lorain as late as 1931.
I'd really appreciate having obituaries of these two couples, if they died there in Lorain Co.  Thanks for any help

John DYKE, born April 1805: His wife, Mary HEDDITCHE and children Ann H, John, Henry, George, Albert, Walter, Mary E., Kate Augusta, Edwin and Gilbert moved to Strongville and Elyria around 1856.  John fathered Lottie.  Henry fathered Louis Henry (my great-grandfather), Delia Ann, Charles John, Clara Susy, Harry Benoni (died infant) and possibly Estelle.  All information I have about this family is at

ARNDT
Seeking information on my ARNDT family. Dr. Johann Ludwig ARNDT was born in Prussia in 1821.  He was a Physician in Cleveland and Amherst. Married to Catharine Grau Arndt who became a physician after Johann's death and practiced in his office..  He had the following children: George Dute Arndt (Dr.), Louisa J. (Wuestenberg), Henry Francis , and John Jacob.  He died 17 Feb. 1864.  He also preached in the German Methodist churches.  He had a son by a former marriage, Hugo R. Arndt who was also a Physician.
They lived at 176 Beaver Court.  I have not been able to find any other information on him.  He is my great-great grandfather.  I have never found an obituary on any of these folks.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WELLS HARRINGTON-SPRAGUE. She was born 17 September 1792 in Exeter, Rhode Island.  In 1850 she was living in Liverpool, Medina Co., OH with her second husband, William SPRAGUE.  He died sometime before 1860 when Mercy is living with her daughter, Ann LESTER, also a widow in Grafton, Lorain Co., OH.  Ann was married to John Jay LESTER who we believe died about 17 April 1857 in Grafton, Lorain Co., OH.

DALY
Looking for death information (c.1860-1864) on Maria DALY (maiden name unk),  married to Ggf Lawrence Daly of Pittsfield, Lorain, OH.  Children were James, Lawrence, Francis and William.
Found her as late as 1860 Census with new wife on 1870 Census (Mary Egan).  According to census Mary Egan and Lawrence were married sometime in 1864.  I'd appreciate any info provided. Thank you.

I am searching for information on Oscar Jubal Metcalf.  According to the Buchanan County (Iowa) History, Oscar was in Oberlin from about 1848 to 1854.  He worked at odd jobs while attending Oberlin College, where he became a professor. PETERSON
I recently located Peter Peterson in Lorain County.  He lived in the Westview area of Columbia Township, was born  about 1837/1838 in Sweden, obtained a marriage license on 21 Sep 1867, and had a daughter named Hannah on 16 Feb 1873.  Beyond this, I have not been able to locate a death record or cemetery location for him.  I am most anxious to find out what city in Sweden he came from, as well as the names of his parents, so I am hoping that his  actual marriage record and/or some church records and/or a death record will give the names of his parents and that city in Sweden.  Are there any other records in Lorain County that might give this information or the year he arrived in  Lorain County?  Which cemeteries would a person living in Westview likely be buried in?  Which churches would  have been attended by people living in Westview and Columbia Township?  Would these churches possibly have  been in Berea?  Does the local library have a collection of obituaries for this area?  We do not know when he died, but believe it was before 1900.  Your help will be most appreciated.  Sincerely,

ALCOTT
My brother and I have been trying to find my great-great grandfathers origin.  No records exist of him prior to the
census of 1860 and that census shows him originating in Ohio.  We know he was born at sea around 1828 to 1830
but have not been able to find his parents name.  We did find a John Alcott in the 1850 census living in Lorain
County, Ohio and he was 19. My great-great grandfathers full name was John Henry ALCOTT and was born August of 1828, 29 or 30.  I know this is weak information for you but I do appreciate any help you can give me.   I'm wondering if his parents stayed in Ohio after he left their home. I am looking for any information on a Nicholas MARINGER family ; whom came to this country from
BAVARIA  in 1845.  My families resided mainly in the Cuyahoga and Lorain County areas all of

to the Holy Trinity church in Avon and also he was responsible for helping to organizing the then

Clarence Station, Niagara Co., NY and I have found her parents in Dover Twp. at the time but I have not been able to locate William's parentage or place of birth.  I have found indications that his parents lived in Lorain
Co. at some time.  Could you possibly check whatever records you may have to locate William's parents in Lorain, Co.   I would very much appreciate your help as I have been trying to find this WILLIAM K. STEVENS for quite a

CLIFFORD, KELLEY
My great-grandparents William Clifford and Mary Jane Kelley were both blind, and are believed to have
attended a School for the Blind in Elyria , in Lorain County, Ohio around 1890-1900.  I have not been able
to locate such a school.  Do you know of any such school?  William Clifford was from Cleveland, Ohio, and
Mary Jane Kelley was from Pittsburgh, Ohio.  They married in 1900 in  Auburn, New York.  Thank you.

*Married to William Harrison HENRY abt 1889 (1900 census)
*Four children up to 1998.  (census in 1900).
*A son William HENRY born in Sheffield Twp in Lorain Co on 23 Sep 1902 (courthouse document)
*HENRY, Louise J. born  in 1903 per  Marriage and Divorce certificates in Sandusky.
*Lost track of Etta after her seeing her ID on sons 1902 birth record.
*Etta not found on 1910 census
*Husband listed as Wd on 1920 census living with son in Columbus
*Family said husband lived with them since abt 1919 (directory) to death in 1938
*Only Louise (youngest Dau) was found on 1910 and 1920 census in Sandusky..
*Boys were placed in orphanage (family information) can't find where
*Would like to find out where, when, and how Etta died  because this would answer some questions as to
     why the children were sent out. I could also get info from cemetary.
*Father was on great lakes for 33 years so probbly could not take care of them.
*Sons and Dau have died and family can not remember anything being said about her.except that she may
   have been Indian.

LIMES, WEBER, DRUSENDAHL
I am seeking to locate a marriage record for Albert LIMES and Marie WEBER (maiden name).  Marie was first married to Carlton DRUSENDAHL. Albert LIMES was born in Columbus, Ohio on 6 May 1901 and died in Elyria on 4 July 1960. Marie LIMES was born in Elyria on 24 November 1900 and died in Avon on 12January 1990.
Albert and Marie LIMES were buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.

Father was Edward b 1840 d 1880, Mother: Martha 1842-1914, and children were: John, James, Thomas and Henry. 1870 census had their post office as Oberlin. I believe that at least Thomas and James remained in Lorain Co, and raised their children there. Thomas married Gertrude, and their children were Margurette b 1896, John b. 1898, Lucille b 1903, Helen b 1906, and Charles b 1909.

My maternal grandmother and grandfather lived at 2918 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, OH between 1915 & 1919.  By that time they would have had 3 children (2 from PopPop's first wife (who died one week after giving birth to my Uncle Henry).  My Aunt Tessie (Cheslova) was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1908.  I know PopPop Alek was remarried in 1915 in Philadelphia.  My Mom was born in Philadelphia in 1921 and her Mom (Victoria Januszewska Galaska) died 16 months later.  Where?  I don't know.  I do know PopPop's "Declaration of Intention" gave an address (above) where they lived.  Given some time, I know I'll find more information.

I have been researching the BUCKLEY surname for some time now. My GGGrandfather Lewis Edwin BUCKLEY was b. in Henrietta Lorain Co. Ohio abt 1834. I have always believed that his father was Lorenzo BUCKLEY,
because his death certificate stated his father was Lorenzo BUCKLEY and his Mother was Julia STRONG. Lorenzo BUCKLEY m. Julia HOLCOMB in Henrietta, Lorain Co. in 1833.   I didn't pay much attention to the
mothers maiden name, that could have been a mistake by the giving party. I  believe that Lorenzo's father was Adad BUCKLEY, and his Grandfather was Medad BUCKLEY of Lorain Co. Ohio. I found Lorenzo, 33 and Julia, 31 BUCKLEY in 1850 Groton, Tompkins Co., NY living with his mother Clarissa 60 BUCKLEY, Clarissa is a family name. I also found them in 1860 Germansburgh, Tompkins Co., NY Lorenzo, 43, Juliette A.41, Almond M 8,
William H 5, Lorenzo H 5, Hiram H 3, and Clarissa 71. But if this is my Lorenzo and Julia they would have had two families of children. The first was Lewis, Lorenzo, Jane, Mary, and Julia, they all were married in Ionia
and Montcalm Co. MI. Lewis fought in the Civil War in some pretty bad battles, and Lorenzo died in the Civil War and is buried in Keokuk, Iowa He left a wife Ann CASWELL, BUCKLEY, son George BUCKLEY, and daughter
Clarissa BUCKLEY. My Lewis BUCKLEY had a daughter that he named after the town he was b. Henrietta. I have found Adad BUCKLEY, Medad BUCKLEY in the NY census. Do you think it might be likley that Lorenzo and Julia could have left their first children in MI. for some reason like maybe the death of someone and just never got back to them?

I have been trying to trace my family in Lorain, Ohio.  My line is Ervie Morse Jr., Ervie Morse Sr., Lane Union Morse, Ephraim Thomas Morse/Moss. Ephraim was married to Roxanna Rosanna Buck born in Lorain in 1826.  Her father was Walter Buck, Grandfather was Jonathon Buck.  I know that Jonathon was buried in Russia Township in Lorain County and died there in 1840. That is about it.  After Jonathon died they headed to St Joseph County, Indiana. My Rosanna went to Jones County IA in about 1852.  She died in Edison, NE in about 1890.

husband's father.  He lived in Lorain County for 6 years.  He Married Mary
Mabel Frabotta.  They lived on Indian Hollow Rd.  He died on 12-26-1928 and
my husband was born 1-24-1929.  He buried in St Mary's Cemetery, in Elyria.
We know bery little about him.  We do know that he came from Bari , Italy.
NO other information about him.  Is this what you want?  I really don't know

 I'm looking for information about James ALLEN family.  I found in 1860 census, he was living in
 Wellington, Loraine County. He may be my family link to Ethan Allen and membership in the DAR.  Our
 family legend said that we are related to Ethan Allen of Green Mt. boys through David's mother Sarah
 Allen.  The obit of David Newton Howe stated that he was sent to live with his Grandfather when he
 was 7.  He would have been 12 in 1860.   The 1860 census listed David Howe age 12 living with James
 ALLEN.  David Newton Howe is my grandfather and since he was born in 1848 in Stark County,
 Ohio I must find the paper trail of evidence.  I would appreciate any information.

raised in the family of Thomas Lincoln, Utica, New York. Daniel married Susan Puffer at Boonville, Oneida, New York, on 8 Feb 1848. The family moved west to Phillips Co., Kansas, where Daniel died 11 Feb 1887. It is
likely the Marshall family originally migrated from New York.

I am trying to find anyone who might know what land  Nicholas and Christina Shedrom (name as spelled on tombstone) might have owned before their deaths in 1913 and 1933 respectively. They lived in Lorain OH,
Black River per the census records and birth records I found. They are my husband's maternal great-grandparents. His mother was named for her grandmother. Much of his family lives around Millersburg, but we live in Sheffield Township. We started searching last summer and I finally found them buried in Amherst Cleveland Street Cemetery with 2 sons, after a relative said she had heard they were buried in Amherst. What a wonderful
surprise for my husband after thinking he was the only family member in Lorain County. Christina's maiden name it turned out was Aschenbach and they are buried near them. We are having a Finney family reunion here in July and  a Shedron reunion in August in Millersburg.  I would like to be able to tell or show them where Nicholas and Christina lived. The last name has had several spellings over the years---Schedron, Schedrun, Schedrum,
Shedrom (Nick used this) and the current Shedron. I work Monday through Friday and it may be hard to get to the place I need to go to research this. Where should I start? I did learn that a daughter Anna contested and
fought Nicholas' will for many years. Christina went to live with her children after  Nick died. I did research the very old birth records in the Probate department once. Thank you!! Thank you!!

I am looking to document my Indian Heritage as well as find out the rest of my family history.  My grandmother, Estella Mildred WARD was full blooded Indian from the Cuyahoga/Cayuga (not sure of the spelling), branch of the Erie Indians.  She married a John Nicholas SCHMIDT who later changed his last name to SMITH.  They had 4 boys and 1 daughter: John, Frank, Charles, Edward and Estella.  My father was John Charles (he later found out when he retired that his real middle name was Nicholas like his father) Smith. John was the eldest and was born in 1895. I have a picture of her.
My Grandmothers name was Caroline Louise (DAILEY) SCHAEFER. Her father was Doctor DAILEY who was also married to an Indian Girl from the Blackfoot tribe. (I would like to know more about her too, at least her name). I would like to know Dr. Dailey's first name and his linage if possible.  Caroline DAILEY (my grandmother) married Joseph Peter SCHAEFER and had 1 boy and 1 girl, Theodore Joseph (birthday 5-01-1906) and Thelma Helen (birthday 8-05-1908),  (Thelma is my mother)  I would like information about any of the families relating to Doctor DAILEY and my grandmother Caroline Louise Dailey, if possible.  My Grandmother and Grandfather SCHAEFER owned either the oldest or one of the oldest farms in Avon Lake.  I believe it was either on Sheffield Rd. or Stoney Creek Rd.  The museum was looking for a picture of the farm (I have the only one in my possession) when they did a piece on the oldest farms in the area. I would like to know the name of the Street, or possibly the address where the farm use to be. Doctor Dailey had a family grave plot in the Garfield Cemetery in Sheffield Village, Ohio on Detroit Rd (Rt. 254). I was told he is buried there along with some of my other relatives.  I would like to know who is buried there, names, birth and death.
My father John  SMITH married Thelma Helen (DAILEY) SCHAEFERand had 2 girls and 2 boys. John (was born stillborn, I would like to know where he is buried), Thelma Mildred, Thrane Richard, and myself Estella Carol. Only my sister Thelma and myself, Estella are living.

I am looking for information regarding the person of August KNUTH born Germany ca. 1846-1848 who may have died in Lorain County.  I have reason to believe that August KNUTH was still living in 1906.  At that time his name was mentioned in an estate file for his second wife, Mattie (Martha) Boyd KNUTH who died in Cleveland.
August lived most of his life (after his immigration) in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County; however, I have not been able to locate a death date or burial place in Cuyahoga County.  A check of the Cleveland City Directories, 1894-1911 do not list him. Hello, I am looking for descendants of Herbert L. Greenawald and his wife Bessie.  Herb was born in Wayne Co., Ohio in 1884.  His children were June, Glenna and James.  I know they lived for a while in Ashland Co -- but I think they may have had family move to Lorain Co later on.
