RODHOUSE
Seeking any information regarding Mary Elizabeth RODHOUSE b 1882 Wellington, Ohio and a 1905 graduate of Oberlin College. In 1921 she married a Major Harold CREGLOW and she died in 1970. Marriage and death locals unknown. She was a noted librarian/writer and traveled extensively, especially among military libraries and hospitals. My Mother is a Mary RODHOUSE and we believe that all RODHOUSEs in the US are descended from the same immigrant English family who settled near Mexico, Missouri and we would like to place this Mary in our family tree correctly. I am searching for any information concerning the ROMAS family of northern Ohio. John ROMAS and Margaret GRAVER were the parents of : Anna, Elizabeth b in Avon 17 Aug 1859 and d 1932, Catherine b 5 Feb 1857 in Avon, Matthew (living in Henry Co in 1932) and Michael. Elizabeth ROMAS married Frankie VAN BOXEL; Catherine ROMAS married Joseph VAN BOXEL; Anna ROMAS married somebody named GUSTWEILER of Holgate. Michael ROMAS resided in Lorain and Matthew ROMAS resided in New Bavaria in 1919. All of these individuals were probably born ca. 1860. Thank you in advance for any help.

Francis b. abt 1865 PA, his father(unk) b. Ireland. Anna Jane b. abt 1874 PA; her mother Elvira J. living (in 1910 Ohio census) with this family. Family resided in Elyria, Lorain Co. Fred McALLISTER m. Coletta Louise WEBER, d/o Antone Sylvester WEBER and Cora Bell HAMEL. Fred had siblings who remained in Ohio, and some who removed to CA and elsewhere. Edward Tyndal DALE (MD) b 13 Dec 1840 Lorain Co OH d 1881 in Little Rock on return from a trip to OH. Married Mary E. WALKER 1868 in Green Co OH. Father was a Gilbert DALE married to a ___Tyndal who per 1902 note by daughter-in-law "died from wounds and exposure". Three sons: Gilbert Tyndal L. Dale 1868/68; Joseph Edward Dale I (MD) b 1869 Greene Co OH d 1921 Colo; William Edward aka Ethelbert T. Dale b 27 Aug 1880. Sons were, as was my father Joseph Edward Dale II, delieved by the doctor. at home. No birth records therefore for the three sons.

I am trying to find the date of birth, date of death and burial place of William E. RICHMOND. He was born about 1849, was last head from in 1922-23, where he was living in an old folks home. This home buried their residents on their property. William was born in Elyria/LaGrange/Lorain County area. His parents were John M. RICHMOND d in 1861 and Sarah SHINLEY (Shirley) RICHMOND d in 1874. Both are buried in LaGrange Township Cemetery. William was married to Nellie OZMAN (OSBORN) b 2 Apr 1851. I do not have her date of death or burial place either. They had 5 children George, Bessie, Grace, Irena & Carrie. I am also searching for the date of death and burial place of William and Nellie's son George L. RICHMOND, born 31 Aug 1874 in Elyria/LaGrange areas. George has a son Robert E. RICHMOND. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm Looking for my great grandfather Who was an Orphan in Elyria or Amherst Ohio in the mid 1800s. I have 3 names for him They are Robinet, Munry and Monroe his firt name was Henry. He lived from 1843-1935. He married Sophia Eschtruth. They had 4 sons Arthur,Edward,Harvey and Jesse. Arthur (my grandfather) died in 1921 of influensa and is buried in Lansing Mi. at Mt hope cemetary. I have a picture showing these people at 110 bell ave Elyria Oh. Any information that could give me a clue to Henry's Identity would be appreciated since I heard the orphanage had burned down.

CONRADY/CONRADI
I need information concerning the CONRADY/CONRADI family that lived in Lorain County at the time of the 1880 census. I know that Nicholas (Nick) Conrady was born around 1859; he was married to Louise (also born 1859). There was also a Joseph Conrady who lived in the area. Nicholad and Louise had a farm adjacent to that owned by the Joseph Zenz family in/around Avon or Black River Township. Louise Conrady died in 1917, Nicholas died in 1911, and Joseph died in 1926.

MCGOWAN, ROY
Researching a Harry H. McGOWIN born about 1877 in Elmore, Harris twp, Ottawa County, Ohio, son of Adeline KARR and James Henry McGOWIN. Adeline was the daughter of Margaret BINKLEY and Eliab KERR, their marriage took place in Perry County, Ohio. Harry had one sister, Myrtle Eleanor, who married William FREY in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio 1894. Harry married Grace ROY, and they had two sons and are listed in the Lorain CO OH 1910 federal census. Harry had three half-sisters, as Ada remarried John Augustus LOTGE abt 1888 and lived in Toledo. I believe the half-sisters were named Musa, Florence and Mercedes. Would like to make contact with anyone researching these names.

I am looking for exact birth, death and burial place if possible for William E. RICHMOND who was born about 1849 in Lorain County. He lived in LaGrange Township,Ohio, with his parents John M. RICHMOND and Sarah SHINLEY (SHIRLEY). John died in 1861 and Sarah died in 1874. They are buried in the LaGrange Township Cemetery. William and his wife Nellie OZMAN (OSBORN) had 5 children...George, Bessie, Grace, Irena and Carrie. William was a barber in LaGrange Township. He died broke, in an old folks home near Elyria around 1922-23. The home he was in apparently buried the residents on their land. The name of the home is not known. I would also like to find the date of death and burial place of William's wife Nellie OZMAN (OSBORN) who was born April 2, 1851. I am also searching for the date of death and burial place of their son, George L RICHMOND, b 31 Aug 1874 in Elyria/ LaGrange areas. George has a son Robert E. Any help would be appreciated

William Dixon born abt 1790 in NY, married Asenath HUMPHREY. Only children I know are Mary D. born abt 1830 and Rensulaer Humphrey DIXON, born 1825 in NY, married Miera or Maria or Mary ERKENBECT. Other possible children are William B.and John. Rensulaer and Miera's children include Lorenzo (abt 1852), Augusta (abt 1856) and Maude Evelyn (1859). Second wife, Elizabeth J. Looking for Hotchkiss family information: My great grandmother, Altha A. Luther was born in Lorain County, OH 29 Jul 1849. Her parents were Isaiah and Adalize (Hotchkiss) Luther. Isaiah was the son of Gilbert and Sarah (Rollins) Luther, born in NY and married 29 Oct 1848 in Lorain County, OH to Adalize Hotchkiss. Shortly after the birth of their daughter, they moved to Oakland County, MI were they remained. Adalize Hotchkiss was born 9 Nov 1827 CT. The Lorain County marriage book that listed their marriage, also listed others with the name Hotchkiss. Nicholas Conrady was the son of Joseph Matthew Conrady (ca 1805) and Catherine (ca 1821). Nicholas was a mill and house carpenter. Nicholas had two brothers: John of Castalia and Joseph Conrady of Avon. There was also a sister named Margaret Hoyt of Toledo. Nicholas and his wife, Louise Van Boxel, lived in Black River Township. They had the following children: Minerva born November 1879, Louise born April 1892, Frank Conrady born February 1878, Andrew Conrady born September 1887, Edward J. Conrady born September of 1881.

HOLICH
Trying to obtain information on George HOLICH who died possibly in Lorain City? in 1945? Ohio Department of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics ran a search for me and came up with nothing. George moved to Lorain sometime after late 1890s from Middletown, PA. He and his first wife (Julia Vargo Holich) emmigrated from Helmec, Kingdom of Hungary in late 1800s. He had two daughters, Helen (daughter with Julia) and Elizabeth (daughter with Teresa Shaeffer Holich). I do not know where or when marriage to Teresa occured. George worked in the steel mills in Lorain County. Any contacts or leads appreciated.

I'm looking for any information available on Ferdinand LENDER, a resident of Lorain County from 1816 through 1838. I am especially interested in finding his burial place, which I believe is in Lorain County. He died in the Fall of 1838. His son was Charles F Lender, who moved to Illinois with his family in 1861. Ferdinand LENDER came to America sometime between 1803 and 1812 from Holzhausen, Prussia.

PORTER, WALLACE
I am hoping that I may be able to find some info concerning my great-great-grandparents. I have pursued them for almost a decade with little luck! I am certain that at least some of the answers lay in Lorain Co.! I know that the families originally came from New York and Maine. George Washington Porter (no dates) and his wife Martha Wallace (no dates) were mar. in Elyria, Lorain Co OH, Apr. 30, 1862. I have obtained a copy of their marriage license but unfortunately there was no additional family info on the license. In the spring of that year, 1862, they moved to Hancock Co., IL, where they resided for approx. 16 yrs. George W. was an apparent scoundrel and Martha divorced him in 1891, in McDonough County IL. The grounds were desertion, adultery, fraud, and possible bigamy!!! They had the following children: George Grant PORTER and Reuben PORTER.

KOTHE
I am trying to find info on where my Great grandparents came from in Germany. His name was Jonas (Johanas) Kothe. He was born 17 October 1846 in Germany. He was in the Franco-Prussian War and immigrated to US in 1871 or 72. He bought a farm in Kipton, Ohio and died there in 1911. He is buried in the Kipton cemetery along with my Great Grandmother Katherina Bechtel (Kothe). She was born 16 February 1849 in Germany and died in Kipton in 1929. They may have come over on the same ship. I wrote to the German military about his war records, but was informed they were destroyed in a Feb.1945 bombing of Berlin. The 1900 Lorain County (Camden Township) census lists his immigration as 1871 and hers as 72. One of these could be an error. The census shows he was naturalized - it's blank under hers. Their son, John, inherited their farm and he died in 1979 or 80.

Seeking information on William HARRIS II., b. December 10, 1860, Farrington England, d. March 10, 1941, Lorain County. Married Sarah Jane SMITH b. Burton on Trent, England, died in England on May 2, 1905. Buried in Mayfield, Derbyshire, England. Her parents were William and Ellen SMITH. After his wife's death, William HARRIS II. left England and moved to Canada, to Cleveland, Oh., to Amherst, Ohio with his children - Willoughby 1886, Adah 1888, and May Ellen 1894. Parents of William II. were William and Agnes HARRIS.

On January 6, 1888 Charles BRUSE residing in Neustrelitz, Germany married Augusta Maria Sophia Johanna SEGERT residing in Rostock, Germany b.April 15, 1861 (from church book of Userin) d. 1927. Augusta SEGERT'S parents were Johann Friedrich Christian SEGERT and Friederike Luise Wilhelmine. Children of Charles/Carl BRUSE and Augusta were Karl Frederick, Wilhelm C., Alvina, John G., Anna, Emma, and Ella. Karl Frederick married Adah HARRIS. Adah HARRIS'S parents were William Harris II and Sarah Jane SMITH.

Lucy Tyndal (this is a best guess), Daughter was named Lucy, believed B & D in Lorain Co in 1830s Son Edward Tyndal Dale b 1840, Lorain Co. Lived in county in 1830s married to Gilbert DALE, parents unknown.

PARISH
Hiram Parish was born 18 Mar 1850/1858, died 16 Feb 1928, buried in Pleasant Grove in Jackson, Ohio. He had 4 sons: Edward , Chance, Ott , Jesse, Homer. On Hiram's death certificate it says SAmuel was his father. Parish's were in Lorain County early. Can anyone help me with Hiram's father and mother. Samuel??

HOLBROOK, POMEROY
Looking for information on parentage or life of Dexter Holbrook, b. 8/1/1801, possibly in New fane Vt. Married 10/5/1829 in new Fane to Jerusha Pomeroy (b 12/2/1809, Vt.) Dexter moved initially to Pittsfield, Lorain County, then to Elyria, where, perhaps, he died. I have the death as 7/2/1881. Jerusha died 6/20/1881. have a little information from the Lorain County history of 1879.

PENFIELD
The first Penfield in Lorain County was Truman Penfield. He and his wife, Ruth Ann Scovil Penfield arrived in 1820 establishing Penfield. Ruth Ann died in 1824. Family tradition tells hers was the first white death in the township. Their daughter, Jane Ann Penfield was born October 27, 1823 and is purported to be the first woman graduate of Oberlin College.
Jane Ann Penfield married Alonzo Hendry of Sandusky, OH. The Penfield name still appears in the naming of Hendry children. (e.g. David Penfield Hendry born 1955 in Dayton, OH.
Truman Penfield remarried a Maria Dayton in 1828 and had three children in Lorain County between 1828 and 1839. Maria, William and Truman.
Lewis Penfield and his wife Ada (Beardsley) Penfield located in Penfield, Ohio in October 1824. (They were the first Truman's parents.)

I'm trying to find the parents of my GG-Grandfather, Charles Nathaniel STORRS, born 1820-maybe Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY. He removed to Lorain Co. between 1840-1845 with brothers Chester B. & Elias STORRS & left behind siblings Sack & Polly STORRS in NY. In 1845 Charles N. Storrs married Sarah Jane (Sally) DAILEY, born 4/11/1829 in Avon, Lorain Co., the dau. of Edward DAILEY, Sr. & Bethany PAYNE. Their children were: Sarah Jane, Agnes, & Edward Charles STORRS, b. 9/7/1858 in Sheffield, Lorain Co. Charles' 2nd marriage. was to Mary BARE (?), perhaps of Huron Co., OH. No known children of this marriage. Charles' 3rd marriage, @ 1875, was to Jennie A. FRANKLYN & their children were: Franklin C. born @ 1876 & a step-dau. Jennie GRISWOLD, born @ 1863. In 1877 he may have been a sheriff in Lorain Co. In 1880 he was living in Grafton. I'm looking for any descendants or someone who may have knowledge of these families. Thank you for any help.

MEYER, STAUDER
I am searching for descenants of Peter MEYER, born in Bavaria in 1844. He settled in RIDGEVILLE TOWNSHIP, LORAIN COUNTY. He married Catherine STAUDER in 1872. They had 12 children - Barbara, Emma, Peter, Lena, Brigetta, Rose, Henry, Mary, Clara, Lawrence, Johanna (Hannah), Gregory. The family had a 121 acre farm on what is now Avon Beldon Road. The only one of the family that I have extensive info on is Brigetta. She married Christ GILLES. They were my Grandparents. Peter and Catherine belonged to St. Peter Catholic Church. ELDRED, KELLOGG
Looking for information on John ELDRED m Desire KELLOGG Dec. 1829. Desire was the daughter of William KELLOGG of Elyria. I found John & Desire in the Lorain County census in 1830 & 1840. 1850 I do not find them, but I find 5 Eldred children living in the household of Lewis Crossen. Trying to find out if these children belong to John & Desire. Any information greatly appreciated.
