The following Marriage, Birth and Death information was transcribed from a Bible apparently once owned by the family of Phillip Ritzenthaler. Locations listed in the Bible include cities and towns in Ohio and New York. Supplemental Information provided on the internet by Oberlin College Documents Archives indicate this family lived in Western New York, Pennsylvania and northern Ohio.

The Bible is a well-kept, leather-bound, brass-secured "Harding’s Royal Edition" Bible published by William W. Harding Publishers, Philadelphia, 1873. Inserted at random pages throughout the Bible are dried tree leaves, ferns, pansies, and other such items. The Bible came into the possession of the transcriber on August 4, 2001, at an auction benefiting Danville, Ohio’s Parochial Schools (Amish Schools). The auction, an annual event, was held in Danville, Knox County, Ohio. After many unsuccessful attempts to locate descendants of Phillip Ritzenthaler in order to return the Bible to its rightful owners, the transcriber gave the Bible to a friend as a gift.

Marriages

Phillip Ritzenthaler Jr. and Hattie M. Allen were married July 26th 1869 (see note a).

Phillip Ritzenthaler Jr. and Annette Eddy were married May 15th 1879 in Camden Ohio.

Nellie May Ritzenthaler, daughter of Philip and Hattie Ritzenthaler was Married to Wilton L. Morringer (see note b) in Akron O., July 7, 1891.

Laura Maude Ritzenthaler and Lyman Clement Bates were married in Kipton, O., May 4, 1892.

Nettie Lorena Ritzenthaler and Rev. Theodore Kellogg were married June 22, 1910, in Oberlin, Ohio.

Phillip Ritzenthaler Jr., son of Mary Ann & Phillip Ritzenthaler Sr., was born Aug 14th 1841 in Hartheim on the Rhine, South Germany.

Nettie Lorena daughter of Annette & Phillip Ritzenthaler Jr. was born Sept. 3rd 1882 in Camden Lorain Co., Ohio.

Reuben Eddy Ritzenthaler son of Phillip & Annette Ritzenthaler was born March 14th 1887 in Camden Lorain Co. Ohio.

Flossie Edna Ritzenthaler daughter of Phillip & Annette Ritzenthaler was born May 27th 1889 in Camden Lorain Co., O.

Hattie M. Ritzenthaler wife of Phillip Ritzenthaler died April 6th 1875 in Camden. Aged 25 years.

Reuben Eddy Ritzenthaler son of Annette & Phillip Ritzenthaler died Aug 31st 1887. Aged 5 months & 17 days.

Philip Ritzenthaler, son of Philip and Mary A. Ritzenthaler, died at Kipton,Ohio, May 4th, 1908, aged 66 years, 8 mo. And 20 days.

Annette Eddy Ritzenthaler, wife of Philip Ritzenthaler, died at Oberlin, O. Oct. 1909, aged 61 years, 2 mo., and [left blank] days.

Handwriting makes it difficult to be certain of this name. First letter of first name is unclear; name could be "Hilton" or "Milton." Surname could be "Moninger" or something similar.
