The Lorain Church of Christ has existed
since 1943. As a result of growth, five other congregations are now present in Lorain
County.
Our building sets on approximately two
acres of land, has a seating capacity of 500, and room for thirteen separate
classrooms, office space and a large nursery. The church owns a three-bedroom
brick house to be occupied by the local evangelist only one block from the
church building.
Robert D. (Bob)
Eddy serves as our full time
minister. He began his work with the Lorain
church in September 1998. He is married to Patty L. (Wetzel) Eddy. They have
two children and seven grandchildren.
The Lorain
Church has an annual VBS and hosts
the North
Central Ohio Bible Lectureship the
last week in August. Presently, our Sunday morning attendance averages 130
people.
Through the years, the Lorain
church has been blessed to have many gospel meetings with both well known and
not-so-well-known evangelists. College presidents, seasoned preachers, and
those who have held their very first gospel meeting here have filled our
pulpit. Some of our children have matured into gospel preachers, elders,
deacons, Christian College
teachers, Bible class teachers, schoolteachers, and business personnel.
Furthermore, we look forward to the growth of our current and future young
people into similar roles in their congregation and community. With the help of
our Lord we will ever endeavor to spread the gospel to the city of Lorain,
bringing the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ to souls who have not the
knowledge of Him in the pardon and forgiveness of their sins. May Almighty God
help us to this end that in all things He may receive the glory. Amen.
