| Welcome
|
As I write this, I am still in the glow of the Easter worship. It is Easter Sunday afternoon and I find myself looking back at where we have been these past seven weeks as we re-experienced being a Sabbath People. We can constantly be in the Presence of God as we take time to reflect on His love and accept His strength for our life. Just a few hours ago, we re-dedicated ourselves as individuals and as Lakeside Community Lutheran Church as we began our 25th Anniversary. Over the next nine months, several times of celebration will be held. In June, Bishop Duane Pederson will be here for our congregational dinner. Also in June, former pastors will be back to share God’s word with us. Other activities—a polka mass, ice cream social, a potluck picnic—will be held so look at future newsletters for dates and times. We will end our festivities on Christmas Eve 2008. During the coming months, we will celebrate the theme “Book of Faith, Lutherans Read the Bible.” At the 2007 church-wide Assembly in Chicago, this emphasis was introduced. This is a much needed initiative for the ELCA as we center ourselves in Scripture and renew its importance for all we do. Paul wrote to the Romans, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of God for all who believe.” May this be a time of renewal, re-experiencing, and re-dedicating ourselves in God’s Word in our lives. This is the time that God has given us, let us rejoice and grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ.
