“CHILDLIKE FAITH"

The Ladies’ Spring Luncheon is set for Saturday, May 12 at 12 o’clock. The theme is, “Childlike Faith” and the guest speaker is Nancy Splitstosser of Hastings, Mn. She will share her antique doll collection with us and give us a history of her dolls. Nancy has been active in doll clubs throughout the USA.
So, mark this date on your calendar and plan a “Mother’s Day” luncheon with your daughters and granddaughters.
Committee members are chairperson, Darlene Hallberg, program and ticket printing, Billie Frisch, table decorations, Jan Myers and luncheon and dessert, Katie Childs.
Tickets will be on sale April 22, 29, and May 6. May 6 is the deadline on ticket sales.
Relive your childhood by attending the spring Luncheon on May 12th.

VBS is scheduled for July 23-27 in 2012.
Registration forms will be available June 1st and will close on Friday, July 13th.

Our theme this year is Son Rise National Park. The true treasure of this theme is described in Philippians 4:19. “My God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus”
The themes each day are as follows:

True Peace - Children will come to realize that no matter what problems they face, Jesus is loving and powerful and will help them.

True Riches - Jesus knows what children need and will provide what’s best for them.

True Power - This day they discover that Jesus shows them how to depend on the power of God’s Word when tempted to sin.
True Love - Today they learn that Jesus loves each one of them that He died and rose again so they could be members of God’s family.

True Hope - Here they can be fearless about the future because Jesus is always with them and has a plan for them.
So, parents and grandparents, invite your children to be a part of this wonderful week that can change their lives as they travel life’s journey.

W/ELCA NEWS

Hello Ladies of Lakeside:

Flowers flaunting and branches leafing. . .signs of Spring everywhere! While 2012 is well underway, May is a grand month of more beginnings! The annual Ladies Spring Luncheon also signals another beginning. We can count on this annual event to fill the Fellowship Hall to overflow capacity with new friends and old friends coming together to celebrate faith and friendship. The timing is perfect for the snowbirds and summer cabin dwellers to flock back to Burnett County. Nancy Splitstosser will inspire us with the program of Childlike Faith this year on the 12th which promises to be a walk down memory lane with her knowledge and collection of antique dolls! Thank you Chair Darlene Hallberg and committee for a wonderful luncheon and program.

Happy 25th Anniversary Synodical Women’s Organization! The theme for the 25th SWO Convention held in Eau Claire on April 27-28 was “Act Boldly, Reach Out, Connect in Faith.” These words from our Purpose Statement which was created twenty-five years ago are still guiding us today, with the operative words of act, reach and connect - our mantra for continuing to spread the word and honor the Lord at Lakeside, the greater community and the global horizon! According to SWO President Avalene Swanson, as a “community of women, we are diverse. . .it doesn’t say anything about age, interests or gifts.” Thank you all as you continue to share your time and talents as God’s hands and feet!

The second W/ELCA General Meeting of 2012 is scheduled on Monday, May 21st at 9 AM followed by Discipleship at 10 AM. The agenda will include nomination of officers - Treasurer and President, as both currently serving will be stepping down. Be sure to mark your calendars and prayerfully consider numerous opportunities to continue God’s work among friends!

Sincerely,
Katie Childs
W/ELCA President
