The Friends of the Vaughn
Library, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization of people who like books
and who like people who like books.
We think books are doorways into another world, a pathway to adventure, a window into another mind.We believe libraries should be storehouses of information and entertainment, and it is one of our functions to make money to help the Vaughn become that. We make money by selling books, selling memberships and encouraging donations.Among other things, we have bought new shelving, supported the summer reading program for several years, and made it possible for some members of the staff to further their professional education. We have also sponsored informative lectures like The Brown Bag Lunches and the Gallimaufry Series. Our goal at present is to help pay for the automation of the library, which will make life easier for the staff, and easier for the public to locate books. One of the nice things about being a member is that you get a 10 per cent discount when you buy books in the Book Nook. We'd love to have you join us. C'mon down! |
