In addition to joining the Battery, the recruit must be a member of either:
For Hurt's Battery: The Reenactors of the American Civil War (www.racw1861.org),
For Hardaway's Battery: the Comstock Civil War Reenactors (www.ccwr.us) or
Forms for joining these organizations may be obtained from the Battery Adjutant or may be downloaded from the website of the specific organization.
Uniform and Equipage
Hardaway’s Alabama Battery:
In order of importance in case the recruit is to acquire them over time. The recruit has 18 months to fully outfit himself.

Cadet or Richmond gray with solid red collar and cuffs, either CSA buttons or “A” artillery buttons |

early (preferred) or late war style with artillery red and brass crossed cannons; period slouch hats also acceptable |

any shirt appropriate to the period |
| Footgear |
either brogans or period boots |
| Canteen |
any period canteen |
| Suspenders |
period correct cotton, linen or leather |
| Belt |
black belt with CSA buckle |
| Firearms |
(Optional): any period correct sidearm or carbine |

Recruit’s Checklist:
- Fill out Hardaway’s Battery Recruitment Form.
- Fill out membership form RACW or CCWR.
- Write check for club membership dues (as needed).
- Write check for Hardaway’s Battery Dues ($10.00 – made payable to Hardaway's Alabama Battery).
- Send all of the above to Battery Adjutant.
- Begin acquiring uniform and equipage (see list above).
- Download safety rules and study for safety test.
