A LONG TIME
AGO, BEFORE THERE WAS TV...
There
were stories and songs about every topic under the sun. Each one a magic
carpet flight into a world of fantasy, creativity and learning. From foreign
languages to cosmology, I've got stories that put a new edge on curiosity
and songs to fan the flames of fun. Give me a general topic, I'll give
you a program of stories, chants, rhythm games, ballads and songs in a
concert format designed for fun and participation. Or let me select a
program for you. Either way you get 45-60 minutes of stories and songs
that enchant, instruct and entertain. Adaptable for all ages. Assemblies
up to 300.
Song writing can be a powerful educational tool. Pick a subject: recycling; the history of ancient Egypt; the rules for conjugating French verbs; you name it. As we explore and deepen our understanding of the selected topic we'll begin working on rhyming, prosody (the rhythm of language), music theory and expanding vocabulary to construct the verses and melody of a song. In the process we'll be using cooperative and creative problem solving skills, well known tricks of the trade for writers, memorization techniques and, when we add the melody, music notation. Adaptable for all ages. Classes up to 30. 60-90 min.
DYNAMIC STORY TELLING
A
One Day Workshop Story telling develops listening, speaking, reading and
writing skills and is one of the most accessible teaching tools available
to us all. Besides be a great way for kids to learn reading, story telling
can be a profound learning experience in many other ways. A good story
and a good story teller can change the way we look at the world and ourselves.
Students will learn and practice the techniques of good story telling,
including work with body language, voice, attitude, memory, stage presence
and focus.
