This year I was privileged to be asked to create a painting to be used for the Innsbrook Institute Music Festival poster.   Below are the steps in that process.  My plan was to base it on the fiddlehead because the Institute logo is a stylized cross between a fern and a violin fiddlehead.  In the first painting I tried using a palette knife only, but couldn't control the shape of the fiddleheads with the knife.  In the second one, although I really like the colors, the water has no surface.  Finally in the third one things came together to say what I was trying to express.
