Paralegal Meghan Elise Foster goes to the Cayo Sueño Resort to enjoy one last vacation before starting law school. Unsure of herself sexually and emotionally, Meghan wants a no strings, no regrets fling to prove that she’s not frigid, as her cheating ex-boyfriend accused.

DEA agent Alex Worth is working undercover as ‘Nicholas Alexander’, investigating a money launderer. He has until the end of the week to get results or the case will be reassigned. Alex is determined to succeed; this job is all he has.

When he finds an open book in his hotel suite, he can’t resist reading the sensual passages written inside. He is fascinated after reading some other passages and wonders which is the real woman, Meghan or her sexy alter ego Elise. Alex is determined to show her that reality is so much better than any fantasy.

Reacting on an impulse to his innate sensuality and easy charm, she tells him she wants hot, sweaty sex and she wants it with him. He reluctantly agrees to her no strings, no regrets proposition, however, there are secrets standing between them. When she asks if he has her diary, he denies seeing it.

Alex offers Meghan anything she ever wanted or dreamed of wanting. When they make love, she is able to give and receive pleasure for the first time. Somehow he has touched her emotionally and she’s not sure she wants that. He convinces her to have an affair- a romance with seduction as well as sex. As he recreates her fantasies, they find themselves falling in love. They want more than a fling- they want forever, but how can it be possible?

When Alex encounters the money launderer, Frankie Ramos, he reluctantly tells Meghan the truth about himself. She is upset that he lied about his name and his job, but fear for his safety compels her to protect his identity. When Ramos acts suspicious of ‘Nick’, Meghan pretends to be a call girl named ‘Elise’.

When he finally returns the diary, Meghan is furious over his continued deceit. He tries to explain that he only wanted to please her, but she refuses to listen. Unfortunately, they still have to work together as ‘Elise’ and ‘Nick’ to discover how Ramos is moving cash out of the country and get the evidence the DEA needs.

After Ramos is arrested, Meghan tells Alex it’s over between them. She loves him but can’t live with the risk. She doesn’t need a hero who not only courts danger but revels in it. Alex accuses her of hiding in her fantasy world instead of taking a chance on love. She reminds him that love requires trust, which he breached more than once. Realizing that sometimes love isn’t enough, they regretfully part.

During the next month, they realize their mistakes. Alex quits the DEA, not liking the person he’s become. Years of undercover work cost him his integrity as well as his identity. Meghan puts her diary away, no longer needing to escape into fantasy since she found the real thing and let him go. She realizes a hero is exactly what she needs after all.
