The Architectural Theatre (TAT) ® and tatkhj ®:

The Architectural Theater is a non-profit organization founded in 1978 by Kenneth Howe Jones in Urbana, Illinois.  At the time Jones was just completing his masters thesis in architectural theory at the University of Illinois on the subject "Architectural Theatre for Actor and Audience."

Under the identifying acronym tatkhj Jones leads the TAT efforts in architectural design, art and architectural theory, theatrical set and lighting design, internet website design, legitimate stage acting, improvisational theater performance, and other related activities.

Jones received his MA in Architecture in 1978 and is a licensed architect in Washington, California, and Illinois.  Over a thirty year period he has done set and lighting designs for ROMEO AND JULIET, MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN, SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO, EMPEROR JONES, AIDA, MACBETH, A DOLL'S HOUSE, NICE PEOPLE DANCING TO GOOD COUNTRY MUSIC, TO GILLIAN ON HER 32ND BIRTHDAY, WALLY'S CAFE, WIT, SHOOTING STARS, I OUGHTA ME IN PICTURES, MARY MARY, LAUNDRY AND BOURBON-LONESTAR, MURDER AT THE HOWARD JOHNSON, EINSTEIN AND THE POLAR BEAR, and PAINTING CHURCHES.

Jones is a founding member of the improvisational comedy performance groups WHAT HAPPENS NEXT and THE PORTABLE REALITY SHOW.  He currently performs with the PRS at the Jewel Box Theater in Poulsbo, WA.

Jones has been acting since 2002 and has appeared in multiple roles in two Robert Fulghum plays ALL I NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN and UHOH1 HERE COMES CHRISTMAS.  At the Jewel Box Theater he has appeared as Andrew in EINSTEIN AND THE POLAR BEAR and as Gardner Church in PAINTING CHURCHES.

Jones has been interested in performance, and particularly in comedy, ever since he first attempted to make his mother laugh with his impression of famous Chicago radio personality "Two-Ton" Baker in 1948 at the age of 4.

Jones is a fly fisherman and beekeeper and lives with his wife, the poet Marianna Mears, two dogs, four cats, and twenty-odd goldfish in Hansville, Washington.  He has one daughter Anna who is a sculptor and pastry chef in Chicago, Illinois.
