Let's see now ...
The name may actually be a little misleading.
This site is really about how citizenship doesn't work
work most of the time.
And also it's about how the reason for that isn't really very complicated.
I mean it's not rocket science (you knew I was going to say that, didn't you.)
And it doesn't have a hell of a lot to do with "conspiracies" either. although
I'd be the last to tell you that they aren't out there. Hell, they
probably are.
Nope, citizenship in this country
doesn't work because citizens
don't work!
They just don't do their job. The
United States of America is a constant on-going effort. It takes a
huge amount of work
to keep a
liberal democracy like the
United States alive and well. And if this country is special, which
I think it is, then it's because our
U.S. Constitution actually makes
that effort mandatory for each and every one of us. Use it or lose it!
Nature hates a vacuum. If a void is left lying around
for very long it will be filled, you can count on it. And if the duties of
citizenship are ignored, the privileges of citizenship are bound to be in
jeopardy. Citizenship is at all times a moral choice.
And to those who seek power,
it's a choice morsel as well! If we don't keep a close eye on it, there
are many out there who will gladly grab it up and take it from us if they can.
It's not easy being a responsible citizen in a democracy,
but nothing worthwhile is easy, right?
So to that end this site is dedicated -- to awaken in
people just like you and me an awareness of our responsibilities as citizens.

So How do I Get Started?

Curiosity!
That's all you'll need to make the best use of this site.
But it will take a lot of it, so please get really, really curious if you can.
The more of it we have the better off all of us will be.
This site is about finding out what it takes to become a good American citizen.
But rest assured, it isn't going to be easy to actually become one.
To begin with you'd better plan on forgetting all the nonsense you've been fed
for most of your life about what being an "American" is.

This site is mostly just book lists and links to all the valuable articles,
films, and internet sites I've managed to track down. That and a few
conclusions I've drawn in my own search for what makes being an "American
Citizen" tick.
And this little journey is going start with learning as much as possible about
how this country actually operates. Why and how it does the things it
does. And maybe even more importantly, why and how it doesn't do the
things it tells you that it is going to do.
Be warned -- these carefully hidden subjects. These are things kept close
to the vest by those who run the show. For want of a better term,
I'll use the one Lewis Lapham uses in his editorials for Harper's
Magazine, and I'll refer to them as the "Ruling Class."
And, as Lapham tells us in his marvelous book Rules of Influence, yes,
Virginia, there is indeed a ruling class in this country. Don't doubt it
for a minute.
So get ready for a bumpy ride.
Very little of what you think is going on out there is really what's going on.
And much of what is actually going on is rather hard to believe at first.
And no, this site isn't about "conspiracy theories." Oddly enough
the "secret" stuff isn't conspiracy-like at all. And the really scary
stuff? Well, it's just right out there in plain sight. How can it be
a conspiracy if those doing it are right out there where everybody can see them?
