Lag Motto: "We can't forget the birch groves under which we ran as children.. We can't forget the glittering fjord, where the church boat was rowed in the morning..."

The Nordmørslaget was founded 1936 in Vasa Hall at Ballard, Washington by immigrants from Nordmoere. Many of the first members were from Silvana, Stanwood, Everett and Seattle . Dues were $.50 until 1960 , $3.00 until 1997 and now $5.00.

Detailed records of the Lag's activities have been kept since 1936 and are archived at the University of Washington.

The club has its own banner since 1992. It is white and blue with scenes from Nordmoere: Grip lighthouse, Tusna Mountain and a fishboat on Talg sea with a beautiful sunset towards Smoela.

The club has 114 members most live in the Seattle area. Annual events are Christmas dinner with the Norwegian Seamen and War Veterans at Leif Erickson Sons of Norway Hall in Ballard, Summer Picnic at Lake Reily with Trönderlaget, Fall Cod dinner, and a Spring dinner / business meeting. Spring and summer meeting/business meeting, election etc. is held at Leif Erikson Hall with a cod dinner, and entertainment for a festive gathering. President, vice president, secretary, membership secretary and treasurer are elected yearly. Committees are social, historian/archivist, public relations, nominating and muscian. 97-98 Schedule

Christmas Dinner 1996 was Friday December 13, 1996 at Leif Erickson Hall in Ballard at 6:00PM.. Main dishes were pork steak, sour kraut(sweet), caramel pudding, coffee and akvavit. Norwegian treats were served before dinner. Miniatures of the banner were sold. Romsdalslag: A book was found that dates from 19531976 that is a financial accounting of summer picnics and dinners. The picnics were held at a Everett, Washington Park and Woodland Park, Seattle, Washington. It appears they met twice a year with the the dinners held at Norway Center, Seattle, Washington. The following is from the book "The Bygdelag in America" by Odd Lovell: "A local Romsdalslaget dated from July 1924 when a group of people mainly from Vistdal in Romsdalen came together in Stanwood, Washington. Until 1940 the group was known as Vistdals Picnic. At that time the name was changed to Romsdalslaget".
