Sunrise to Burroughs Mountain
Sunrise is located on the eastern side of Mount Rainier, and provides some of nicest drive-to views of the mountain.  The road to Sunrise usually opens in July and closes in October, but check the park service's website for current conditions.  Sunrise is the highest drive-to area in the park, and sits well above 6,000 feet.  To get to Sunrise take SR 410 to the White River entrance of Mount Rainier National Park.  This entrance is only a few miles beyond the turn off to Crystal Mountain Ski area.  There are a number of nice hikes out of the Sunrise area, and this is just one of those.

This hike begins behind the Sunrise visitor center, and there are signs which point you in the right direction.  The hike starts out in alpine meadow, but travels up into tundra like area after the trail climbs Burroughs Mountain.  Keep an eye out for Mountain goats in this area and deer in the meadows.  Frozen Lake is
