Hook Thread Cone Head Tail Body Rib Thorax |
Gamakatsu SS15 6-8 saltwater hook Orange 6/0 thread 5/32 brass or gold cone head Tan marabou but I have used other colors Orange Super Floss. Gold or Copper wire Orange lite brite dubbing. |
Tying Steps (Click on a picture for a larger image) 1. Places a brass or gold cone head of the proper size on the hook. 2. Begin the tying thread at about 1/4 of a shank length behind the eye. 3. Measure out a marabou feather for the tail that is about 1 1/2 times the length of the hook shank, and tie it in. 4. Tie in about 4 inches of small copper wire for the rib. 5. Tie in some single strand floss (color to match the pattern you are tying), I prefer to keep it on the spool instead of cutting of a section. 6. Wrap the floss forward and tie off at about the point that you started the thread at. 7. Wrap the copper wire around the floss body to form a rib and tie it off at the same point as where you tied the floss off. 8. Dub the thorax. 9. Whip finish and head cement. |
