Tying Steps (Click on Pictures for a bigger image):

Step 1:  Put the bead on and wrap lead wire around the hook shank 6 - 9 times depending on the hook size.  Start the thread just behind the lead wire and build a ramp up to the lead wire.  Then use the thread to secure the wire in place.

Step 2:  Get two opposing black or brown goose boits and tie them in at the bend of the hook so that they are about a 1/2 of the shank in length.

Step 3:   Now tie in two about 6" lengths of wire of the color that you desire.  Be sure that when you tie them in you keep the wire even on the side of the hook that is facing you.

Step 4:  Hold the to strands of wire together so that they are not twisted but are instead flush against each other.  The wrap the two pieces of wire forward keep each wrap tight against the previous wrap.  Tie off the wire just behind the bead.

Step 5:  Now tie in a piece of either pearl tinsel or flashabou and then a piece of black or brown thin skin so that the shinny side is facing down.  Wrap back to about the 40% point behind the bead.

Step 6: In the middle of the space between the bead and the thin skin/ tinsel tie in a rubber leg on each side.  Be sure that the legs have an even length.

Step 7: Tie in a couple piece of peacock herl and wrap it forward to form a thorax.  The peacock herl should be used to secure the rubber legs in the proper position.  Alternatively you can use peacock dubbing.

Step 9:  Pull the thin skin and flashabou over the top of the thorax and secure it with the thread.  Cut of the excess thin skin and flashabou and whip finish/ head cememt.

Step 10:  Cover the thin skin back of the fly with 5 minute epoxy or Loon Hard Head , and allow it time to dry.
