Hook Wrapping: Silver Tinsel (optional) Bottom: White Spirit River Pseudo Hair with some pearl angel hair tied in than topped with a small amount of white Pseudo hair. Middle: Pearl crystal flash and one strand of red flashabou on each side. Cross-eyed cone head ¼" with Hareline Adhesive Holographic Eyes 1/8" This is a pattern that I came up with for coastal cutthroat in the South Puget Sound. This pattern is the subsurface version of the Pseudo Slider. This pattern can a be tied without the cone head as well for a little bit of a slower sinking variation. The Pseudo hair material in this pattern is material that has extremely good movement and was recently introduced by hairline and can be found at www.wildernessangler.com |

Tying Steps (Click on Pictures for a bigger image): Step 1: Put the cone head on and stick the eyes in the slots on the cone. Start the thread right behind the cone head and optionally tie in some silver tinsel and wrap the body across the length of the hook. The silver tinsel has been omitted from the pictures as it does not seem to add much to the flies effectiveness. Step 2: Tie in some white pseudo hair on the bottom of the hook keeping the thread as close to the cone head as possible. Step 3: Top (actually bottom in this case) the psuedo hair with some pearl angel hair, then top (bottom again actually) the angel hair with a little bit more white pseudo hair. Step 4: On top of the first batch of white pseudo hair tied in (above the shank now) tie in some pearl cystal flash. You may want to add a little silver crystal flash to give the fly some more flash in the water. Step 5: Tie in one piece of red flashabou on each side of the cystal flash that was just tied in. Step 6: Now above the cystal flash tie in some olive or tan pseudo hair, still try to keep the thread as close to the cone head as possible. Step 7: Above the olive psuedo hair tie some rainbow and black flashabou/ cystal flash. The material I used is actually a crinkled flashabou. One top of this tie in some peacock angel hair. Step 8: Tie in a small amount of olive or tan (depending on the color already used) pseudo hair. Step 9: Whip finish and head cement the fly. If possible try to slide the fly up the shank so that the body head is further inside the cone head. Then add a little zap a gap to the inside of the cone head to hold the cone in place. The rest is optional Step 10: Fill in the back of the cone head with zap a gap and allow to dry. Step 11: Coat the zap a gap with black Loon Hard Head and allow to dry. The recoat it with Loon Glitter Hard Head. |
