Green Lake is located at the Northwest corner of Mount Rainier National Park.  The trail begins about three miles up the Carbon River road from the park entrance, however be sure to check to park's website for road conditions.  The Carbon River road is subject to washouts and floods and can be rough going or even closed at times.  Some other good hikes in the area include:

-  The Carbon Glacier and Ipsut Falls
-  Chenisus Falls
-  Ipsut Pass (Worlds largest Alaska Yellow Cedar is on this trail)
- Northern Loop Trail

Green Lake is a fairly steep 1.8 miles uphill hike through an old growth forest.  About the first eighty percent of the hike consists of numerous switch backs, but the last stretch just before the lake is rather flat.
Right:  Ranger Creek below the falls is said to hold both Rainbow and Brook trout, but it requires a bit of bush-whacking due to thick vegetation.
Green Lake offers fair fishing Cutthroat trout.  Please practice Catch and Release at this lake, as the trout population relies completely on natural reproduction.  While this lake can be fished from shore, I suggest that a float tube is brought along, to increase your success at fishing the lake.  A full sinking line is very helpful on this lake, as it is 80 feet deep and the trout can be down a ways at times.  Don't forget a floating line though, because this lake can provide some good dry fly fishing.
