He was born in Sheridan County, MO, son of Henry Harrison and Rose Alpha Selleck Adams.

Burton Henry “Buddy” Adams, 75, of Lepanto died Wednesday, May 5, 2004. He was a member of the Etowah Pentecostal Church of God, A WW II Marine Veteran, a member of the American Legion and a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Pearline Adams of Lepanto; one son, Buddy Junior Adams of Lepanto; one daughter, Patricia Hendrix of Lepanto; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 7 at 2 pm at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel in Lepanto with the Rev. Huey Meherg officiating. Burial was held at Garden Point Cemetery in Etowah. Visitation was held May 6 from 5-8 pm at Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto.

Wayne Doyle Adams, 62, of Caraway, AR died Wednesday January 24, 2001 at his home. A Navy Veteran with 28 years of service, he was a member of the Caraway American Legion and was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Lacy Poag Adams of Caraway’ two daughters, Robin Herriman and Melissa Paxson, both of Osceola, two sons, Mark Poag of Osceola and John Poag of Caraway; one brother, Buddy Adams of Lepanto; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services were held at Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto with Huey Meherg officiating. Burial was held at Garden Point Cemetery at Etowah.
Active pallbearers were Mark Poag, John Poag, David Herriman, Jimmy Harrison, Buddy Adams, Jr, and Ronnie Hurst. Matt Hurst served as an honorary pallbearer. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr Edford Brewer, 77, of Etowah, AR died March 10, 2000, at St Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born April 3, 1922, in Mountain View to Ervin and Rettie Brown Brewer, he was a resident of Etowah most of his life and a member of the Etowah Pentecostal Church of God.
Mr Brewer was a retired farm laborer who was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. According to his family he was always available to help others in their times of need.
Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 Monday at the Etowah Pentecostal Church of God, with Rev. Huey Meherg officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Point Cemetery.

Born in Cross County, Ark. Mrs. Brown moved to Etowah at age of 1 with her parents. As a child of 12, she had helped in clearing the land trailing behind her father to clear the dense forest, and saw a century of the fields, trapping and hunting wild game.
Mrs. Brown outlived three husbands: Lige Scott, Lige Vaughn, and the last Carroll Brown. As each husband died, she remarried until the last one.
She leaves four children: Mrs. Sarah Vaughn with whom she lived at Etowah, AR, Mrs Elvie Peton, Etowah, two sons: Alex Scott of Marked Tree, AR, and William Scott of Grand Junction, MI, and as she stated in her interview in 1964, hundreds of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Malcolm Burnett 33, of Keiser, AR, was killed Sept 29, 1951 after a feud between him and Milo Cox, 60.
Burnett had been living with the Cox family and helped make a crop on the Cox farm. He was told to leave and returned to the Cox home on Thursday night. When Cox saw him coming he fired at Burnett striking him in the face. Cox then ran out the door and fired another shot into the top of Burnett’s head.
Cox gave himself up to the police and said “I told him to stay away and he didn’t.”

The slain man was born in Sheffield, AL and had lived in Keiser, AR, for 18 months.

Roy E. (Punkin) Craven, 32, farmer and manager of Legion Junior baseball team at Lepanto, was killed July 20, 1955 when his crop dusting plane nose-dived a mile and a half from Lepanto, AR.
Born Dec 12, 1922 he was well known in American Legion circles, Mr Craven was a member of the executive board of Willie Lamb Post of Lepanto. He managed semi-pro teams at Lepanto and devoted much of his time to youth work.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs Agatha Massey Craven; one brother of Lepanto, and one sister, Mrs Ruth Schwartz of Denver, Colo.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Murphy Funeral Home with burial in Garden Point Cemetery. LNR

Mrs Edna L Felts Cagle, 76, of Luxora, AR died April 7, 2000 at her home. Born in December 26, 1923 at Keiser, AR, she was a homemaker and a member of the Luxora Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B Cagle, one brother and one granddaughter. Mrs Frances Caldwell, formerly Frances Malcolm of Greeley, CO died May 26, 1930. Born April 11, 1874, she was 56 years of age.
She leaves to mourn he passing, her husband, William Caldwell, son Malcolm of Phoenix, AZ, four daughters: Victoria Holloway of Etowah, AR, Nellie McCord of Meridian, MS, Frances of Knoxville, TN, and Wilma of the home. She leaves 14 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. The family became resident of Etowah where she had been active in helping the sick, working as a licensed mid-wife. She will be missed by family and friends.

CALDWELL VII K 14
William Caldwell, born Aug 9, 1861 in Ontario, Canada, died December 24, 1955.
He came to the USA at the age of 21, became a citizen and homesteaded in western Nebraska. He met and later married Frances Malcolm May 28, 1892 in Greeley, Colo. After the three children were born, the traveled to many states and at one point found a job opening for builders in section 16 near Lepanto. Mr Clinton Fraser was representative of the company and Mr Caldwell and his son built several homes and barns in the Fraser community.
After several years farming near Etowah, he retired in Phoenix, AZ. At the age of 94, he departed this life. His beloved wife, Frances, and daughter Wilma Baker preceded him in death. He leaves his two 2 daughters: Frances and Elizabeth and several grandchildren to mourn his passing. His burial was in Garden Point Cemetery.

Mrs. Chrismond was born in Eudora, MS and moved with her late husband, John Chrismond to the West Ridge community where they owned land in 1923.

An illness of intermittent stokes for more than four years claimed the life Saturday, September 16, 1967, of Jonathan Adam Craig, 80, retired farmer and landowner of south Mississippi county near West Ridge.
Mr. Craig was born in Houston, MS, in 1887 the son of John Adam Craig and Jimmie Williams Craig. In 1916, he settled in the farming community, first homesteading in the area of Dismal Lake then selling and moving to the Hatcher community to be near his daughter, Doris and her husband Lloyd Shelton.
Services were held in the Craig home with Rev Larry Powell, Methodist Minister of Keiser, assisted by Rev Vernon Paysinger, Minister of Garden Point Church. Burial was in Garden Point Cemetery with Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto in charge.

Roy E. (Punkin) Craven, 32, farmer and manager of Legion Junior baseball team at Lepanto, was killed July 20, 1955 when his crop dusting plane nose-dived a mile and a half from Lepanto, AR.
Born Dec 12, 1922 he was well known in American Legion circles, Mr Craven was a member of the executive board of Willie Lamb Post of Lepanto. He managed semi-pro teams at Lepanto and devoted much of his time to youth work.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs Agatha Massey Craven; one brother of Lepanto, and one sister, Mrs Ruth Schwartz of Denver, CO.
