| There are a variety of opinions
of what a super car is. For me, a super car is a high performance
street car optimized for acceleration, top speed, cornering and braking.
Super car performance is targeted at what we typically encounter in driving
on the street which is paved roads with both straights and curves.
I do not see a super car over-optimized for the straight line drag strip or driving primarily on unpaved roads. It does not specialize on cornering only on left turns like some circle track cars or sharp turns like an auto crosser. It does not sacrifice top speed for acceleration like many drag racers or acceleration for top end speed like land speed cars. While all these specialty cars are interesting and innovative in their own respect, a super car is characterized by being well-rounded. It is drivable on the street and performs well on a autocross course, a road race track, the drag strip, and a high speed open road course like the Silver State Classic. |
