The Adapters

Here's where things get interesting.  First, let's take a look at the Clifford Performance adapter:

Side view showing provisions for linkage pivot and PCV fitting.

Top view.  Note the Clifford adapter replaces the original Ford adapter entirely and has provisions for mounting the accelerator linkage pivot and PCV nipple.  This is adapter only increases carburetor height about 5/8" over stock.

Now, let's take a look at the Stovebolt adapter:

Top view.  Note how the adapter mounts off angle when mounted directly to the manifold.  This adapter is not designed to replace the Ford adapter and has no provisions for linkage pivots or PCV.  Using the adapter this way will require fabrication by the installer, especially linkage.

The other option is to retain the original Ford adapter and use the Stovebolt adapter on top, or fabricate your own from aluminum plate.

The drawback to this arrangement is the increase in carburetor height which may create hood clearance issues.  Using this option will require linkage fabrication by the installer.  The big advantage is correct orientation of the fuel bowl, facing the radiator.
