About Flathead Cycling
Mission: To promote the healthy sport of cycling in the Flathead Valley and
to provide competitive racing and skill-building experience to future cyclists.
Flathead Cycling is a competitive USCF and NORBA cycling club team based in
the Flathead Valley, Montana. Flathead Cycling was founded in 2002 with the
intention to jumpstart competitive road cycling in the Flathead Valley. The
initial goal was to organize local riders for group training and team racing
in regional road and mountain bike races. Each member pays yearly dues to the
club, volunteers to put on a local race, and purchases their own team jersey
and clothing. Sponsor dollars go to reimburse race expenses to encourage competitive
participation and sponsor exposure throughout Montana and surrounding states.
Since 2002 Flathead Cycling has successfully promoted and organized the Star
Meadows Road Race and the Herron Park Cyclocross events in addition to providing
extensive support to the Fish Trails Criterium, the first criterium in the Flathead
Valley in this century. In addition, each spring the team has organized training
races and a time trial series to hone the skills of team members. Flathead Cycling
has maintained and inclusive community-supporting philosophy. The team consists
of a core of about 15 riders who race competitively and up to 30 club members
that contribute as volunteers to help put on the races and ride and train together
supporting the development of riders new to the sport of all ages.
Current Club Officers include: Eric Greenberg-President, Walt Chauner-Vice President,
Tim Gaertner-Treasurer, Tim Noonan, Secretary
