Trim and Chrome

While BOB was away for the paint and interior work I was overcome with the amount of room in my garage. And it's a good thing because there was a lot that needed done for when she returned.

I took the side glass frames to the auto glass shop and had them replaced, Took all of the chrome trim to the chrome plater to have it re chromed. That was the easy part!

Since I had the room I decided to polish the stainless steel and aluminum myself. I set up a polishing wheel on a temporary bench and got to work. This takes a lot of time and is dirty work, but the results are worth the effort. I started with the easiest pieces first, the door sill plates. These are aluminum and by starting with sandpaper and working down they came out very nice. Here are a couple of before shots. Use the back button to return here.

And here are the after pictures. They are a little dark but you can see the difference.

I also did the seat bottom covers. It's hard to believe how many hours it takes to complete, and have so little to say about it. Here is a Picture.

Last I did the stainless for the side trim. Again, a lot of work, but worth it.

While this was going on in the garage, the chrome was out to the plating company. Here is a shot of the front bumper and grill after it was reassembled.
